Please go away, before the rude people arrive and rip your spamming to bits.

As an aside could I interest you in golfing in Co. Down In Northern Ireland?

Halloumi, (a cheese made from a mixture of goat's and sheep's milk) originates from Cyprus, and is commonly served sliced and grilled as an appetiser. Seafood dishes of Cyprus include calamari (squid), octopus in red wine, (red mullet), and sea bass. Cucumber and tomato are used widely in Cypriot cuisine. Other common vegetable preparations include potatoes in olive oil and parsley, pickled cauliflower and beets, kolokasi (taro) and asparagus. Meat dishes marinated in dried coriander seeds and wine, and eventually dried and smoked, such as lounza, charcoal-grilled lamb, pork and chicken (souvla), sheftalia (minced meat wrapped in mesentery), as well as cracked wheat (pourgouri) are some of the traditional delicacies of the island. :D

I'll try and be nice, even though you are shouting.

Would you approach a group of total strangers at the bar in a golf club, interrupt them and demand that they all pay attention to you and start to talk about the topic that you are interested in? Or would you perhaps listen in, contribute around the edges, introduce yourself a bit, let people know who you are and what you interests are before gently steeriung the conversation around to the topic you wanted to gain advice about?

I think the latter is preferable in real life, and it follows that people may perceive you to have just been a tad rude. That being the case I wouldn't expect a glowing conversation on Cyprus here.

Hang on a sec, is this guy looking at moving / holidaying in Cyprus and is after any experience anyone has had? Or is he trying to sell something.

At the moment it is not clear to me.

Swingcyprus18, can you clarify your position? What info are you after?

Between myself and the missus we have been to cyprus 6 or 7 times, I love it there but its a pity there arnt many courses, especially on the south east coast around ayia napa direction. We got married on Nissi Beach and I wonder how a round before the wedding would have went down!

A friend and her husband started a holiday business in Cyprus. Under Cypriot law they had to have a local partner who ultimately ripped them off (along with his cousin the mayor and his cousin the lawyer). They ended up bust.

Also my brother and his wife went to Cyprus last year with a view to buy; the first day's tour of totally unsuitable building sites changed their minds - I think they're off to Italy next. (Hope so as bro plays golf and we can take Stephano up on his offer).

otherwise, Cyprus is a nice place to visit

Great place to holiday, not so good if you need to work for a living to stay there, we got chatting to a couple members of staff from the Nissi Beach Resort and they had 2 jobs to make ends meet, even teachers had a second job to keep things ticking over.
Im getting a hankering to go back now!
This was the little walk from our bungalow to the med, heaven.

There is also the military courses in Cyprus which are open to all especially the one at Episkopi which is located in Happy Valley you have to approach through a tunnel in cliffs, it may not be as manicured as Aphrodites or secret valley but for value for money and location you it's incomparable( the 3rd tee has the Med lapping against it and the tee shot at 16th is one of the most memorable I've played.

Hi,

We lived in Cyprus (Paphos) for 3 years. Our first year there we went to the annual dinner and prize-giving at a local hotel. The Club champion got up to receive his prize. Taking the microphone he said “as you know I have was banned from the club for life, after giving it some thought I decided, decided for the benefit of my son (who is learning to play golf) I would write a grovelling letter asking for the ban to be lifted so that I could continue to pursue my golf and teach my son, I recently received a reply it reads – dear Mr ***** after careful consideration of your letter and the circumstances of situation it has been decided that the ban for life stands.”

Aghast, with my chin was on the table I turned to my host, “what did he do,” I asked? He told me that he’d been out one night when he came across the owners of the course in restaurant and complained to them about the condition of the course!!!

A few months later, the course was closed for a year whilst it was completely ripped up and re-laid.

True story
