Im looking to cut down a couple of clubs because they are too long for myself. Anyone done this before? Can i just take a hacksaw to it? Does this cause any issues with balance, and generally is the steel difficult to cut through manually?

A few inches. They are too long for my height. Not looking for advice as to why just if its easy enough etc. I dont want to be hacksawing at it to find i cant complete the job.

hacksaw should do the job fine for steel shafts. A few inches? Off irons? shaft lengths rarely vary much from +1 inch to -1 inch. in most instances gripping down an inch would probably achieve what you are after rather than removing the grip and sawing the shaft.

use anything - it's just thin steel. Pipe cutters need to be used with extreme care as it's very thin and quite strong, cutting discs and plasma cutters carry the usual saftly warnings.

however, adjusting the lies after you have cut that much off the club will almost certainly be required and will be highly specialised and require specialist equipment

you should be fine with the removal and reattachment of the existing grips, although it's easier with a compressor if you plan to re-use.

Before chopping chunks off have you spoken to a pro and ideally got him (or her) to see you swing. Might be a quicker option. Also, if you do go down that road, the pro may be able to get the grip off and reuse it for you.
