Cutting a graphite shaft

Whats the best way to shorten a graphite shaft ?

I've used a pipe cutter on a few steel shafts but never tried cutting a graphite before.

I assume the pipe cutter can't be used for this as the graphite is softer ?

Little hacksaws work best.
I'd advise against using anything powered to avoid throwing graphite dust about.

Mask it then cut through the tape.

A Dremel or other small power tool works well, but follow Ruff-Driver's tip and use masking tape. Get HID to hold the vacuum hose close to the cutting zone - you don't want to breath the dust!
