Custom paint

Hi all. I am attempting to paint my putter but struggling with the milled face. Wondered if anyone had done this and had some advice. Bit stuck with removing the paint without staining the face.

when ever i have stripped out the paint fills from my wedges i have just dipped them in paint thinners
