Forgive me if iv wasted a few minutes of your life that you'll never get back ;) but im bored here with the leg up just trawling through the posts and the Net.
Iv been flicking through some of the posts on Golf lessons and whatnot and the CF question pops up every now and again..Iv always played with off the rack bats and the nearest custom fit center to me is actually indoors on a Launch Monitor which i don't trust....
I'm just wondering what the Forums thoughts are on say for instance a chap that's maybe just starting to take up the game or maybe only playing 12 months or so and is unsure of what to do.....

If for arguments sake you take a course of 6 lessons for example but you cant afford to change your clubs and you've bought off the rack stuff and hit them half decent would a CF benefit this player..
And then if the answer is yes then would you need to go back and have the lessons all over again to match the swing up with the new bats.....
Im sure there is no point in CF a player that hasn't the fundamentals right.

What i have done for myself is iv never had lessons but i have hit various makes of REG and Stiff shafted clubs and drawn my own conclusions as to what feels the best.
I can hit each equally as good as the other but iv chosen stiff shafts for everything. Now before anyone goes off on one there all Pings Stock shafts so im sure that they play a little softer than OEM shafts but i get good distance flight and dispersion with them so im happy enough with my own findings.

So would you say to someone lessons first and then a CF or CF first and then the lessons.....
Just some food for thought but its one im sure some people have on their mind.

Lessons first for me. Get the swing somewhere near consistent before a custom fit will be worthwhile and value for money.

I started with a cheap Ladies set from Ebay which did me for a while. Then bought some Mizuno forged irons as HID swore by them. My coach worked with them and me and only really told me he was disappointed when I bought them and they weren't what he'd have recommended, when I changed them. So I was fairly confident in them although did question the lie angle more than once and he checked it and reassured me.

So they got me to a decent place with my game and it was time to consider something that was right for me and that my coach fitted, recommended and matched where my swing had got which meant ladies shafts were just too whippy. We'd changed my driver meantime which helped but changing the irons filled me with more confidence knowing that errors were all mine and not the bats!

We have since considered a change on loft and/or shaft for my driver but the numbers weren't compelling enough to make the change - possibly "yet" but we'll see.

Def get lessons first for me too. I got my irons fitted for my 30th and to honest my swing was far from consistent so the results are prob way different from now. The main thing for me at 6'2" was longer shafts and right size grips as I have large hands.
