Anyone had one?

I've got black, blue, red, orange, purple, green.....you name it I've got it.

All bought off the shelf though, maybe that's where I'm going wrong

you do realise these sorts of threads stopped being funny a long time ago (if they were funny in the 1st place)?

Your options.....

1) Ignore the thread
2) Put me on your ignore list

You choose

jokes aside, anyone found a decent marker pen that does not fade or rub off? sharpie lines only seem to last a few holes for me, tried some own brand "permanent" pens recently and found them just as bad.

I've found the same, that I'm having to redo my ball marking, as the sharpie marks seem to last just the one round before they faded.

I Use Staples own brand indelible markers to put three big black dots, about 70mm diameter on my balls. I read somewhere that this type & size of marking helps you focus when playing shots & putting. When they fade I just change the ball for a freshly marked one. Every so often I get them out of the bag and remark them. I usually have about 20 balls in the bag at any time, I've never run out yet!

And, to answer the question, no, the markings don't last long, especially when you leave a mark right on the sweet spot of the driver. Don't think you'll find anything that stays on too long.

You need to get a green mini sharpie, they are especially good for writing insults one someone's ball when it's fired into a green you're putting out on:thup:

Or so chrisd tells me:whistle:

One of the most disappointing purchases in my golfing career was a metallic silver sharpie. It rubbed off after each shot:o

Have you tried spray paint? :)

I bought a purple coloured sharpie. Equally as bad. I stick to black as its the only colour that doesn't seem to fade every couple of holes. Fortunately the famous Camberley Heath ball was donated to the golfing gods on its next outing.

So some poor sod found a ball with the word "knob" on it,
Did he keep it ?
I guess it's at the bottom of Homers famous pond :) :)

How could you lose that, it's an icon of forum history :)

Glad I'm not the only one that has issues with the ink coming off, guess people with the same problem also bought off the shelf rather than getting fitted?

Off topic a little, but I used a full size pencil to ark scorecard the other day. You know the school type ones, black and yellow stripes with a rubber on the end. Now I'm sure this longer style of pencil didn't help me with marking scores on card. Has anyone ever cut down oe of these pencils themselves or do you think I should book a fitting?

Never had that problem. I think you should be a maverick and go for it. Make sure you let us all know the outcome, if successful this could have a major impact on the amateur game

Ok, I've cut down said pencil myself. Now I've a problem I didn't think of. I now have two pieces, the sharpened end and the other half with the eraser. Can I use the sharpened end now it doesn't have the balance of the attached eraser, or could I sharpen the other half that still has the eraser attached?

Maybe I should book a lesson? Help!
