Can anyone recommend a good custom fitting centre in the South East, preferably around the Surrey area?

I am fancying getting a new driver, the R11 looks particularly appealing, although I am open minded depending on what works best.

I am tempted by the TaylorMade setup at Wentworth, but if I do that I will be limited to one brand, although the upside of this will be that its more of a shaft optimisation session, which most will say is the most important piece.

Although I quite fancy the R11, if there was something else which suited me far better, I would not want to miss out.

Is there anywhere else in the area, that is worth a look, or recommended?

Thanks

Silvermere is reasonable, and I think is the area TM specialist.

This is a good suggestion.

BUT

Having been to the TM Facility, if it's the R11 you want and you can afford it, definitely consider the Wentworth treatment.

Yes, it's expensive, but it's so much more than just getting fitted for a club. They motion capture and analyse your swing down to the smallest detail.

I used Silvermere a couple of years back when I got fitted for my irons. They were pretty good, will give you the cost back off of the clubs if you buy from them - which I didn't.

My brother lives very close to them and uses them every time he's looking for new gear.

Thanks for the advice so far, seems that either Wentorth or Silvermere would be the places to go.

I do kind of want the R11, I just don't want my desire for this to stop me getting something that might suit me more. Although with the adjustability in the club, I was kind of thinking that you can almost find a setting for anyone with the head, so it comes down to getting the right shaft.

This may be best answered by the guys who hwere lucky enough to win the R11 fitting at Wentworth, but does anyone know what shaft options would be available to try and buy? Currently they only sell the R11 with the Fujikura Blur, so if I went to get fit, would other aftermarket options be available?

If not it would be a bit of a waste of time, to only try 1 shaft or find what shaft suits me and then not be able to buy it!

If you're having it custom fit, I would think any option is available and with the H.O. in Basingstoke just down the road, it's not like they will be in short supply.

I would call an enquire, but I'm pretty certain that if you're paying for the custom fit, you can have any shaft that they have available.

Also, the shaft end is the same as the R9 (the TM guys put Paul McGinley's Shaft from his R9 in the test R11 during the test day), so it's not like the R11 shafts are still being made available.

Also, if/when you book, try and get in with Adrian if you have the option, I'm sure Steve and Alan would agree he was *very* knowledgeable and I think he's the head fitter at the centre.

The best independent fitter around is Precision Golf. They are based in Egham, near the M3/M25 junction and have a lot of experience and knowledge.

Golf Principles in Basingstoke does the official TM fitting for people who don't want to spend £100-200 on it. Jason is a good guy and knows TM stuff well.

Chillidip golf in Camberley, just off the M3, is also supposed to be pretty good.

The R11 isn't quite as hideous as I thought it might be, but not for me. The Superfast is every bit as hideous as it looks in the magazines.
