Hi all.. went for a fitting with Mizuno the other day and one of the recommendations that was made was that I should have the standard length of shaft shortened by 0.5 inches.

Does this really make that much difference, could I not grip down the club a bit further ? The other recommendation was to use a lighter steel shaft(XP 115 R) than standard regular I have in my cobra s3 max irons.

Cheers

I would guess the shorter shaft has been recommended as that's what you need, you could grip down the shaft but then the balance of the club would be wrong perhaps. When it comes to shafts, go with what feels right for you and not necessarily what gives you the best numbers, better still a combination of both.

When I got fitted for irons, the numbers said light weight stiff shaft, I bought heavier regular shafts as they felt better, but then I do like a heavy feeling club.
