We offer reduced shoulder rates of £75.00 from 4th April 2016 to 17th April 2016 and 10th October 2016 to 30th October 2016

What's a shoulder rate mean? Carry only, no trolleys? Never heard of it before!

It's the time between summer and winter conditions, usually October and March, where there is a slight reduction in greenfees but not full winter rates. It is fairly common on links courses, but no restrictions as far as trollies are concerned.

as Clive says, its just a reduction from when the course is in normal summer playing condition though to going to winter lay out. So may have been hollow tines or some other winter maintenance i think ours starts this weekend as its the last medal

I am playing St Andrews at shoulder rates in ten days time. Great value, and the courses have always been in top condition. £225 to play the Old Course, Jubilee and Castle.
