I have a 5 day membership at sunbury, I would recommend it. You can play all the other courses up to 8 times a year for free.It would also allow you to get an official handicap.

Sounds like a good deal especially as I think the Oxfordshire and St Mellion are part of their portfolio

The Oxfordshire isn't - they're in a group with Chart Hills, Dale Hill and Sandford Springs - you can play all the other courses as a member of one of them too I think.....

I am a member of one of their "lifestyle" clubs.

The course has undoubtedly improved since they bought, however prices have shot up,food standards are only just recovering and if you are happy paying £1.75 for a cup of tea then it is the place for you.

Having said that, the course and the people we play with are the important things to us and they are first rate.

My advice would be to look carefully at all your options before you spend the hard earned.

St Mellion is part of the portfolio but tee times are restricted.

We occasionally get a magazine called "fairway to green" which I believe is just for club golfers. There always seems to be a large number of course around the Southampton area advertising. One that caught my eye was called Hedge End. It seems pretty good and I've heard its a good track. Any thoughts on that one as a club to join for you?

Hi Homer
Thanks for the thought, I think the hedge end that you are thinking of is just a large driving range etc v. nice also has an American Golf store on site.

But today I took the plunge and took out a full membership at South Winchester Club, now can't wiat for new new season to enjoy.....

Cool I have heard really good things about that. I had a girlfriend (before I met HID) who came from Winchester. We popped in a couple of times as I was going to move in with her and I was looking for somewhere to play. Sadly I never actually got to play it and we soon went our separate ways (my heart shattered into a thousand pieces ad my emotions cruelly cast aside!! :()
