In view of Rory's amazing putting yesterday, I had another go at using this method this afternoon. Seemed to work almost as well for me as the claw grip (which I have had years of practice at), and definitely better than conventional putting. Still a little bit lacking in feel for distance, but that might improve with more practice. I might give it a serious try! :)

As others have said rightly to me with my short game in particular, find something and stick with it. Half your problems are of your own makings trying too many things and thinking way too much about it all

Think outside the box Del.

From long distance you're probably not expecting to hole it, your main priority is lagging the putt, so why not use the best grip for you to achieve that? If that's a conventional grip, so be it.
Once you get into "holing" range, why not go to your claw or cack-handed grip?

Well I am always trying to find ways to improve, but I have used and stuck with the claw grip for the last 17 years! I have never yipped a putt with it (unlike reverse overlap). If I miss it's usually caused by a poor read.

P.S. With reverse overlap, I am most likely to yip fairly short putts, where there is pressure to get the ball into the hole, or long putts where there is pressure to get the distance right. If I am going to use the claw or cross handed method, I am going to use it for every putt.
