At our course, usually only once a year one of the club nights is cross country, where you play the course but not as you know it, 1st tee to 3rd green etc

I often play some of the holes differently whilst out practicing, I was just wodering if this is something that happens where you play for a club comp ? is it something that you do whilst practicing ? or is there some holes at your club that you think would be great to play but haven't had the ourage or space to try them ?

We have a x country night as a texas scramble, great fun and makes some really good holes (if a bit dangerous!!)

I think this is what sky caddies and range finders were invented for!! Invaluabale when playing to the 18th green from the 3rd fairway. :D

On one of our hole its a RL dogleg - I just chant hit teh fairway with the driver - so I play onto the one beside it and take the harder route in - may sound strange but it works for me.

The cross country idea sounds interesting - but can you get 18 holes?

I know some people who spend their whole life playing golf this way ;)

No we usually manage about 10 but it is really good fun and possibly best played as a scramble which will slow it down a bit anyway - our club nights are usually only 13 or 15 holes anyway.

Sounds like a good idea - we have a Wednesday night 'Hat' where you play 14 holes and the winner gets a few balls. Normally Scramble - foursomes or somthing like that . I did request that they played a 3 club challange but it fell on deaf ears - I will try them with this idea - might be good craic.

We don't do this, but we do play a night golf comp. That's fun too. My mate fell into a bunker last year, which he didn't see in the dark. Nearly wet myself.

i have a 18 hole pitch and put about 150 yards from my house and after work and school used to practice pretty much the same way, 5th tee to 9th green etc. was a great laugh

im egar to play one of these night golf games, a course near me used to do this on halloween every year but not seen them happen in a few years.

Believe it or not yes, I just didn’t spend much time in English due to major conflicts with my teacher. Bob just for you all future posts will now be previewed by word spell check.

I was just joking. I've seen a lot worse.
Murph's the worst ;)

Used to play this years ago at my old club Millbrook. Was a great laugh. Would imagine that from a health and safety perspective it would be a bit dodgy now though.

Nope, I just have the worst keyboard. It either misses letters out, or like yesterday, it types gibberish. Even back space went forwards, the 6 key came out p.

My baby lap top is even worse.

Anyway, I am an engineer. We are expected to have poor grammar and spelling. We spent all our time at school doing maths.

You are one of the few on here who makes an effort and your posts are a pleasure to read. :)

They did one years back at Sunbury when it was a 9-hole course and the guys in the shop let two regular three-balls out in the middle. It was carnage.

Bloody funny though.

We have one at the end of the year but its called 'The Greenkeepers Revenge'. They bung holes in wierd places, put them in between some hay bales,or even build a wall of bales to go over before the green etc etc

This is weird!!!

Thay are doing one at my course tonight. 9 hole comp, 1st tee ladies to 16th green, 2nd tee comp to 15th green, 16th tee comp to 3rd hole.

I got out of work early and thought id play a few holes. Forgot this was on. tee'd off and down the 1st fairway when the pro comes roaring down in a buggy telling me to evacuate as the course was closed for this comp. He told me to expect a few balls coming over the trees and advised I walk back in behind the OB markers.

I would have happily played on in an helmet and body armour and risked it. :(
