Just a little heads up for those who are lucky enough to have one and for those who still might be able to get one.

The Santander Zero credit card has ZERO transaction charges for foreign currency transactions!!!

The problem is that it is no longer available to new customers. BUT if you or your partner has one they can apply for one for you. I only found this out when I was booking hotels in the USA for our holiday, my card all have charges BUT HID with the magic ZERO card does NOT !!!!! Smashing !!!!

After checking at our local branch, no I can't have one, "my wife has one", "Oh well she can get one for you and never ever ever get rid of it!!!!!"
She has applied for one for me. Should be with me in 5 days.

Nationwide doesn't have charges on their Select Credit Card for purchases either, or for cash withdrawals on their Flex Plus account.

Huh, the last time I asked in that shop about CC charges they hadn't a clue, looked it up and said they do charge. I'm in town later I'll ask again.

Llloyds avios rewards also has zero fees, it is also the only zero fee card in the UK that allows collection avios if that is your thing, annual fee of £24.

The Halifax Clarity is widely reported to be the best UK issued card for foreign spend as it has no trasaction fees and no ATM charges coupled with a small APR of under 13% for most.

Just got a Lloyds one , 40 months no interest on balance transfer , great deal , only card I need ....................EYG

Ahhh I missed the FlexPLUS bit. I think I'm gonna ditch Nationwide. THeir internet banking is a pain in the bum

Get a supacard and you can link any credit card to it and us it abroad with no charges.

A very small commission fee is paid to travelex, you don't get the interbank rate that you do with a CC. The charge is very minimal but its there, but that all said it's a very good option especially for withdrawing cash because there show on your CC as a purchase.

Many thanks to everyone on this. I've applied for and been accepted for the Halifax one!!

No more foreign currency charges for me.
