We just had the St Georges Scramble at our place and some of the scores were amazing. I had forgotten how low scores could get when you had four goes at everything.

My team had me off 23, a 17, a 25 and a 9 handicapper (7.4 team handicap) and we shot 7 under gross. Even then, we only came third. The winning team had some lower handicappers in it and they shot 14 birdies and 4 pars. Absolutely immense.

I had forgotten how enjoyable the Texas Scramble format can be. It takes the pressure off your shots and you can have a really good time.

Anyone else playing in fun competitions over the easter period?

Oh yes, crazy scores can certainly be order of the day. Once played in a scramble and we needed an eagle 2 up the last for 18 under gross. It was the short winter course and we (only) made birdie. We won the comp but only by about half a shot !!

Immense. I'd say so. When I played them, we'd get a good ball on the green and still not make a birdie. 14 of them....wow.... :)

I really enjoy a scramble - you get to play a load of shots you wouldn't normally, and its especially good if you have a couple of better players in your four (and you get to see how easy the game can be if you get yourself in a good position!)

There was a fourball (handicaps - 1,2,2,5) at our club a couple of years ago who shot 17 birdies and an eagle. Unsurprisingly, that was enough for the win - but only by one shot!
