Was up in rainford earlier. I had a bit of time and with clubs in the car decided go hit the northwest national driving range.

Chip and putt first, I've never seen a putting green like it. The twists and turns in it made it more crazy golf than an actual putting green.

on to the range, always try to start out with wedges and work thru. Chips where either hitting their mark or going beyond. I'm doing well here. Full pw going 115-120, when it's never over 100. 9 irons going well over 130 mark, normally 120max. Thought sod this and went straight to the mini, 220 carry rolling out to 240 odd up a steep back. a good 20yrds more than Sunday best.

Now the matts are raised up but only a few feet, and it was a little windy but it was across.

hoping the yardage markers are not as Mickey Mouse as the putting green, and I've finally found something.

Very enjoyable short game area. The putting green gets to some silly speeds. Lots of fun to be had.

I once played the course then did a bit of chipping for a while. I went to go to the range to find it closed. I went around the side and walked into the bays. Filled up bucket after bucket and hit drives till my fingers bled. Mucho fun.

The only thing I don't like about the range is the wind is usually straight into the face.

Did you manage to get a cheeky swing at that ping g30 while you were there Dave? you do know they use 120% balls there ;)

Must have just missed you pal... I use the range there a fair bit! The putting green is nuts! Now the clubhouse is open, it doesn't get as well attended to. The range distances are pretty accurate, but the wind does change direction a fair bit. The facilities there are great, as is the shop....

I tried the g30 at ag mate (sliced the hell out of it) the fella just left me to it. Hit loads of balls but Didn't like it, but there was also a demo sldr there and that was a different story. Not so much in major gains but certainly better shots and feel and lookswise a better club for me. Plus it was set to neutral so there should be a little more to squeeze out of it. I nearly bought one last week of eBay, but if I'm gonna go for it I may as well get fitted first.
And if the wind is in the face and I'm hitting 240, then strike me down now!! :whoo:

Yeah I really like the set up there Karl. Never played the full course, I done the 9 hole one afternoon, decent for short iron practise. But The shop is fantastic. I could spend a long time and a fair bit of money in there!

but really they should roll or even dig a couple of them humps out. I had two 8 foot putts come back to my feet after hitting them within 2 feet of the hole! :o Shudda learnt the first time really....
