Recently moved to Warwickshire and looking for a new club, and like the look of both of these, anyone played them?

I fiddled about at Brandon Wood municipal last season, buit it floods badly so looking for recomendations in the south/west of Coventry region.

Also considering Stonebridge. Will give them all a play when the weather improves but just wondering what recomendations there would be out there?

I play at the Forest of Arden on the Aylesford course. Its just less than £80 a month but that includes a great gym, pool, steam room etc.
The course is always in great nick.
Also really easy to get to off the A45 - 10 mins from City Centre.

Is that the course with the par 3 right next to the motorway?

If I lived in Warwickshire in the area West of Coventry, there's only one place I would join..

Shirley Golf Club....

"Shirley you can't be serious?"

For all year playing and lush fairways that are the envy of every club for miles, it's the only choice.

I might consider the Warwickshire, but not unless I could learn to hit the ball further and buy a powa-kaddy.

Too far for post work golf RG. I work in Leamington, and live near Cov airport (Wolston if you know it), so need something sort of along that corridor.

Yeh it is - cracking little hole. Its only a wedge but big bunker at the front, really big slope on the green and OOB a yard over the back

We were put on that course at the last minute when our Society had paid to play the "Arden" course a few years ago.
It wasn't bad, but after travelling over 200 miles to play the Championship track it was a bit of a let down.
They never did apologise or give us a reduction in the green fee, so I'm loathe to ever visit there again
:D

Now, there's a surprise.

I was looking to join & had a day lined up on the Arden.
By some fate, I was at a dinner party in London the night before and met a member who said...."don't bother joining the Arden, they'll keep putting you on the Aylesford"

The next day, we turned up for 18 holes on the Arden and guess what?....got moved to the other.

I suppose if you join the Aylesford, it's fine, a fair deal.
The other course...well that's a different story.

I left v. disgruntled, refused to settle my bill for 9 holes (only, it was new and un-exciting then). They pursued me for membership and, you can imagine, I gave them short shrift.

I know Wolston, have played skittles in one of the local pubs with a Wolston living friend. Live in Leamington myself, and all my golf buddies swear by Leamington and County. Not been around it myself but one to throw into the mix.

ye really fae Echt??
I am indeed, although not for quarter of a century nearly. The Folks are just in the prosess of selling up and becoming "toonsers" for their retirement.

That's probably the Rose & Crown, although I think the Moon has skittles as well?

L&C seems quite decent actually. May have a shufty there too.

Going to Kenilworth on Friday...will report back on return.....
Report Sam? ;)

Really looking at Coventry now. Pro at Brandon says it's the best value for money (just over £1k, not value to me but whatever).

Still looking for any member views though from those who've payed any of these regularly?
