Going away with a group of friends over new year to a converted barn

We ( the men ) have been given permission by them ( the ladies ) to go for a round of golf on the 2nd of Jan

Looking for some ideas ?

So far I have thought of Cromer , Sheringham and Sprowston as possible venues

Sheringham would be my shout but right on the top of the cliffs so will be tricky and cold if windy, the steam train will be running too. Was going to play there next week but lad i was going with has ruptured his ankle ligaments i am gutted.

Sprowston is a nice track but there are better.

Cromer is a good track too but Sheringham would be my pick of the two.

My place Barnham Broom is worth a visit but i am biast we have two courses both very different and we we visited they done a deal called the Barford package which was all day golf with bacon rolls and coffee, soup and a sandwich then a two course meal for £59 good deal if still on. One course was on four temps today though as it is set round a river.

There are two other courses I am told are worth a look round Norwich they are Weston Park and Eaton golf club but I have not played either.

Hope this helps

Well we ended up playing Sprowston Manor

£22 for a round

The welcome from the pro shop was ok - the guy wasn't the friendliest but seem proud to tell us it had held the Trilby Tour 4 years in a row !

It was seniors day so got a tee about 20 mins after their last tee went off

We got stuck behind 3 guests in two buggies who were horrifically slow - not watching where their ball went then spending ages searching - driving buggies everywhere , top drives 70 yards then waiting for the green to clear 250-300 yards away , lost a couple holes to people in front and just oblivious to people behind - twice we asked if we could come through politely and twice they ignored us. Spoke to the Marshall at halfway and he asked them to speed up - they obviously ignored him.

The course itself is ok , stood up well to the rain , the holes werent anything massively testing. The greens were ok for this time of the year and you can see in the summer they would be the defence of the course along with the wind.

Food was ok in the grill bar ( doesn't really have a clubhouse ) but took a while to arrive

Overall it's ok at 22 pound and prob would have enjoyed it more if not for the group in front

Glad you got a round in, summs the place up quite well to be fair. Nice course but nothing to make you think I want to play it again. I have heard a few moans from members about hotel guests lately so I guess that may be what you got stuck behind.

Weather has not been great here for the last few weeks so not the best time to play any course.
