OK you clever lot, advice needed ref courses in the Midlands area.

4 of us with high handicaps ( lowest being 17) are looking at spending 2 nights and having 3 rounds.

What courses would you recommend ? Not after spending a fortune on green fees .

Cheers

Forest of Arden ?

There is the Belfry of course

How far are you willing to go ? Shrewsbury to play Hawkstone ?

A number of good courses around Wolves - Patshull , Shifnal , Lillishall

Obviously I can sort you out a round at Coventry and get you all signed in, do you know where your staying (base) will be as then it's easier to create a nice grouping, you won't want to be taking on the M6 every morning getting to a course, what days also, midweek ?

Patshull Park would be a good base , play there , also got Worfield and Enville close. Could sign you in at Shifnal if around, when are thinking of coming up ?

When you coming up? Can sign you in to the belfry at guests rates if you want. However, they have INSANE stay and play offers at the moment

That's a good bunch of below the radar courses that wouldn't be wall to wall with guests etc

Thanks for all the offers, if it goes ahead looking to come up June time. Have not decided the base yet. A lot of it is dependent on everyone's shifts.

Thanks again for all kind offers.

If you are looking at staying over Belfry is the only choice".

you would be very disappointed if you stayed at Patshull Park Very Average (below)

What about Swindon near Enville? Played there a handful of times a few years back and enjoyed the course.

Have you played Astbury hall? Would like some feedback.

nearly played last week £25 on tee offtimes

Played the front 9 three times. First time was because they were hollow tinning the back 9 so went round twice, then second time we came off after 9 due to heavy rain so used the fair weather policy and due to redeem voucher there on 22 nd March.
Staff very helpful and friendly, course well presented, greens in good nick and bunkers, just the best, sand imported from America allegedly

If looking for a resort and its more about the weekend and a few beers after than the golf then Farthingstone seems to cater well for that at a bargain basement price, alternatively would consider Forest of Arden (personally prefer it to the Belfry) and usually decent deals to be had on the likes of YGT

Astbury is very, and i mean very, open. Great in the summer but when it's windy and rainy you bloody know about it.

Round this way you are looking at Worfield, swindon, patshull, oxley is alo nice in the summer. Telford golf and country course is also a course i have always enjoyed.

The astbury is great. In 10yeArs it could be a top golf course. Greens were possibly the best I played last year and I played a lot of top courses

All those who played The Astbury, did you see/meet KK (The Sinner) Downing around the club/course?
