Courses in Lothians and Central Belt in nice condition?

Any of the East Lothian links courses will be in great condition. I also played Harburn last week and must say the greens were superb and fairways great. Ratho Park is also good at this time of year and I will be playing there on Friday so will let you know.

Agree with East Lothian links course, great condition and its getting to the time of year with reduced greens fees so even better value, Gullane and North Berwick being my choice's out of the area.

Gonna go (from now till March/April):
St Andrews New/Jubilee
NB West
Gullane 1/2
Dunbar

I can't say I've sampled many courses around my native Musselburgh despite the quality being nothing short of exceptional and my track being in pretty shoddy condition all winter

A lot of effort has gone into Harburn over the past couple of years with more to come. Greens some of the best in the area

Unless you can get a good deal at Gullane 1, I'd suggest you forgo it for Gullane 2/3! Top day's golf (except in mid-winter!) and great value! St Andrews New/Jubilee is fairly comparable - but quite a long day from your place,

If your home course is the (now renamed) Mortonhall, you have a great summer course, but it does suffer in the other seasons compared to links - or near - ones.

If links isn't your thing (something I can't comprehend!) then Longniddry might satisfy you! Drains like links, but predominantly parkland style. Greens can be 'interesting' in a 'breeze' though!

What tracks in the area are in good knick at this time of year?... Shortlist will be divised!

TBH, if your looking for no mats, full tees and greens then Winterfield do a 6 month winter membership for 150 notes. You don't spend time looking for balls under leaves and you can even play the monthly medals. Not a long course, some a bit mundane but it is what it is and I hate winter mats and greens. Dunbar is expensive and you'll have trouble getting a time during winter but it plays good all year round.
