courses in Lake district / cumbria

to be honest i havnt got that far ! but will definitely be playing silloth on solway , but we want to play some courses on the way up the M6

Silloth is great. Windemere is an interesting challenge and we really like Kendal which is dirt cheap and always good fun (VERY hilly). Keswick is in stunning scenery but does get very wet. We played Preston on the way back home as it's just off the M6 and a nice parkland course.

Brampton is very nice and very hilly but definitely worth a visit, appleby is also a nice course.

silloth is the tops
Grange over sands at the lower end of the lakes is a peach
morecambe is beautiful
Silverdale - is a bit odd and quirky, but cheap
didnt manage to play preston - they dont take visitors at the weekend...grumpy gits
:)

Silloth, Seascale, Carlisle, Brampton, Ulverston, Workington and Furness to name a few.
Morecambe on the way up if travelling from the south is a good option.
I am personally not keen on Keswick (a bog for 51 weeks), Kendal (mountaineering) or Silverdale (dull, a one hole course) Appeleby does nothing for me although good greens usually.
Where you are staying is important as its awkward to get to some of these places and bring your rain gear, no summers around here!

Pay attention to Saving Par - he knows his courses.
I happen to agree, Silverdale - no, kendal - no, G-o_S - only a possible.
Morecambe on the way up or back is an excellent option - very reasonably priced too:whistle:

I disagree with the comments about Silverdale. I found it to be great fun. Some quirky little holes on that course.

Morecambe is one of my favourite courses, although some of the members leave a LOT to be desired!

Looks like silverdale is getting some mileage:o Played it a lot and can't say it's the best in the area but for a one off I suppose it's ok - very hilly and bit of a silly design - you won't forget it in a hurry (not all for god reasons).

Bratty - sod off cheeky git.;)

Heidi, re. Preston.Sorry you couldn't get on.
I joined last year and I have the same problem !!
Seriously, the comps are usually heavily subsribed (I only managed to get in one weekend comp - need to be quicker this year),so that may explain why you couldn't get a game.
Hope this helped.

Have to give a thumbs up to Lancaster - great course.
