All of the mebers of Caddington Golf Club were emailled late Thursday night to inform us that the course would be shutting Friday 4th April. Bit of a shock as there was supposed to be someone taking over the running of the golf course while the current owners continue to develop the course. The search for a new club begins.

Sorry to hear Mark, had been some rumours on the grapevine but assumed thats all they were, sorry to hear for you and the other members :( Any idea where you will go to? Obviously if you need a game at any point you're more than welcome

So is it shutting because it can't trade?

Or shutting so the redevelopment work can happen without interruption from Golfers!

I heard that it was the latter, but you can never rule out the former!

More importantly, were subs due to be paid on 1 April? And did they take them?

Thanks Steve, I went up to South Beds at the weekend and enjoyed it so that's hopefully where I will go. I know that a few are going to Aylesbury Vale but it's just a bit to far for me.

Yeah I assumed it would be but as I say if you want a hit before you get somewhere sorted let me know.

South Beds an odd one for me, played a match there year before last and didnt really get on with the course. Was in nice condition just struggled with there being quite a lot of blind shots. Having the extra academy style course too a nice extra as well, hope it works out well for you and will have to come visit for a reassess in the summer once you're settled :)

They have said that it is making to many losses as a golf club in its current state so it will close until the redevelopment has finished but I do not think it will open again. We hadn't paid any subs yet as the person that was going to take over had told us that he was not going to take any until mid April to give him a chance to set everything up.

Heard about you go to 9 holes last year because the owner wanted it dump road rumble and earn lots

Why is it shutting - heard a lot of your members went to Luton Hoo and Dunstable Downs

South Beds is a good course and a good club

That's certainly the way to fund the development!

I play 'on Wembly Stadium' every time I play The Shire. And the course at West London is being constructed/developed similarly.

How many members were there?

We had gone down to about 190 from 390 after it went to nine holes, when the whole process started we were told that we would always have 18 holes to play throughout the development. All been a bit of a nightmare really as I was vice captain this year and myself and the captain had lots planned. Just need to look forward now and enjoy my golf some where else.

It is a nice course - some great holes. The course is very good but clubhouse needed a refurb

According to the website it plans to reopen with 27 holes, is this correct or just pie in the sky?

If it did reopen at the start of next season would you rejoin and would you still be vice captain or even captain?
