Heading down to Blandford Forum next week and looking for recommendations of where to play.
I've just been given a HC of 22 (a bit harsh - probably play between 25-28).
Not looking for a premium course, just good value in the range of £20-35 + buggy hire.

Cheers
Gary

I think Moors Valley might suit your requirements and it's not a bad little track with some decent holes or Knighton Heath is another but just slightly above your budget.

Purbeck is worth a visit - with fantastic view over Poole

I played there last Wednesday and the only views we got were restricted to about 200 yards due to low cloud.

Purbeck is actually no where near Poole unless you take the ferry from Sandbanks, £4.50 each way I believe.

Near to Blandford in your price range and not to severe in terms of difficulty

Ashley Wood (just outside Blandford), Wareham, Bulbury Woods,
Dudsbury (but no fee known)
Yeovil, Sherborne or Rushmore when played at twilight rate

Bulbury Woods- 1st course I ever shot an under par round of golf at, my memories must be of somewhat different course to srixon.

Wareham is a course of two 9s and the old 9 can be tight.

When did you last play Bulbury, it was mostly irons off the tee back in May when I played there. Wareham, I just always find the greens too sloooooow.

Moors Valley had been mentioned and is a short but nice track so would be my pick.

Other options are :
Dorset Golf / Country club (nice with 3 9s)
Dudsbury
Ferndown Forest (cheap n cheerful / short beginners track)
Meyrick Park (good muni in centre of Bournemouth)

Bulbury about 6 years ago., but I am relatively straight with a driver.

I hate slow greens and do not have a memory of that at Wareham but I have not played there for even longer.

I played Isle of Purbeck last week and their greens were unbelievably slow compared to Yeovil.

Playing IoP this weekend in a league match. Hope they are not too slow.

Came down near Weymouth is a nice course. It also claims to be where the Ryder cup started too.

It also has a massive work war2 created in middle of one of the fairways :)

I'm a member at Dudsbury and would absolutely recommend it. Beware though - closed next Thursday for a cross country gimmick comp, and course maintenance week the following week with hole closures.

If you are in Blandford then I'd also support Ashley Wood - very close by, cost effective, good challenge except for the three bland holes in the woods around the turn. North of Blandford there is Sherborne which is also very good. Further afield I'd also support The Dorset, and Came Down is my favourite course in Dorset. I think Isle of Purbeck is too much of a pain to get to, Wareham is Ok for the holes out in the country, but stay away from Bulbury Woods.
