Does anyone else use course notes during their round , and has it improved you're scores?

I made myself some handwritten notes in a pad to give me a plan for today's comp. Nothing too in depth. Just things like yardage, SI, do I get a shot, club to use off the tee and where to aim.

On certain holes, I'd add extra notes to remind me to swing easy on the 1st or commit to the follow through on the holes where I don't get a shot.

I found it to have a really positive effect. I hit more fairways in regulation than I can remember and equalled my best score of the year.

I've got my fingers crossed for another cut.

I thought about it a year or so ago on my home course but as per usual didnt bother. I reckon it would help focus on key holes and as I am just in the middle of watching shawn clements dvd he says a lot about focus and picking spots, minimise strain and maintain rhythm. Key notes would certainly help.

maybe update every couple of rounds and let us know how it has helped or hindered overall

I trust my sky caddy yardages and Aimpoint chart and play each hole on the day as it comes. No pre-conceived idea and work on the strategy once the tee shot is hit. When I was at Wimbledon Common many, many years ago, I did my own yardage chart, with notes for each hole. It helped in as much as there wasn't any other yardage information (club didn't have yardage book and no markers on holes).
