Which I would appreciate some guidance on please.......

1, over the weekend playing in the heat I struggled gripping the club and was questioning my control.... I put this down to sweaty hands / wet glove and changed them..... However tonight I was pottering about picked up one of my clubs for a few practice swings in the garden (as you do!!) and noticed they still felt slippy! I have only had these new clubs a few months but the grips seem to have lost their 'tacky' feel..... Is there anyway of getting this back or is it new grips?? If new grips, how long should they be lasting ?

2, before hitting my iron shots I always check the condition of the groves and clean.... Recently I have noticed that a am cleaning quite a bit of grass out of them.... Now (as you can probably tell from questions and handicap in sig!!) I don't really take the conventional divot, do make contact with the ground which I thought was after the ball but the presence of (compressed) grass is making me feel that I may be hitting fat and not as well as I thought !!

Thanks for humouring me and reading, any suggestions would be greatly received!!

hot soapy water and a scrub will get the grips back very tacky, its just sweat and dirt combined into the grip grooves that make it slippy...

you might well be hitting fat, however the club still makes contact with the ground after ball contact so I wouldnt worry about it- just keep cleaning the grooves

Might be worth giving the grips a bit of a scrub. They shouldn't be work smooth after a few months unless you hit an awful lot of balls. Fill a bucket with Fairy Liquid (other detergents are available too) and using a small hard brush, scrub the grips and let them dry in the air.

Cleaning grooves is important if they are filled with crud. A tee peg will usually do the job, but you can but various little brushes and other cleaners.

Did mine this morning, warm soapy water and a nail brush, good rinse in cold water, dry off as much as possible with a towel and then allow to air dry fully before going back in the bag.

Hole in the end of the grip blocked up with one of those little plastic ball markers.

Can't really help you with the grip issue.

I am very 'easy' on grips and mine last eons - and I'm lazy too!

As for the grass in grooves, that certainly doesn't mean you are hitting fats. If the strike is the 'standard' descending one, the ball has gone by the time the club hits the ground, so collecting some grass would be reasonable.
