No I'm not looking at getting rid of the Mrs and replacing with a younger model....well not at the minute anyway :D

I'm looking at getting a Combi boiler fitted and was wondering if there are any plumbers on the forum who could give me a rough guideline price that I can expect to pay.

My current boiler is a Glowworm micron. When I moved into the house 2 year ago I had this serviced and was advised that if I wanted a Combi in the furute it would be pretty much a direct swap over as all the required piping etc is already in place.

So given that it would be a straight forward swap (hopefully) what sort of price might I expect to pay for the new combi (decent quality one) and installation.

Any advice from all you plumbers out there would be appreciated.

PS - I am looking for a North East cost, not the sort of price I would have to pay down South :D

Thanks

The prices will vary due to the prices of boilers but my advice would be don't buy a cheap boiler, it'll cost you more in the long run.

Anything between £1800 - £2400 would be my estimate without looking at it.

I paid £1900 for a Valliant last year. Had no problems with it.
Had a Ferroli before that, had nothing but trouble with it.

Not a plumber but the plumber we use is a Jehovah and is always (it seems) very honest (he has only invoiced us twice and done about 5 jobs for us).

I had a very long conversation with him (he does go on!) on this subject and he actually talked me out of the £3k to do the job. Anyhow, it seems its going to depend on how big your house is and what quality of kit you get.

This is a fine of example of buying the better boilers. Heed*this advice and you won't go far wrong.

The bloke who serviced it a couple of years ago gave a rough estimate at the time of around £2200 which included a Baxi boiler. From what I can gather Baxi are a fairly good make of boilers?

I have just been on the phone to the same fella and he is coming round tonight to price it up

That's probably about right, certain baxi boilers also come with a 7-10 yr warranty that'll save you £300 at least.

I found out the hard way. 5year warranty with the Ferroli, ended up replacing it after 3 because of all the hassle.

If I had a £ for every ferroli I've fixed I'd be minted.

Valiant and Worcesters are the best on the market with a great back up service to boot. Baxi are very good too.

Last summer we bought a new Baxi boiler to replace the Ferroli one we had. Cost of boiler, fitting (limited pipe work needed doing) and a 10 year warranty set us back £1500.

new A rated boiler (ideal or glow worm ) with power flush and a magnetic filter should cost you approx £1900,if you are looking at a worcester boiler add another £300 ish, dont forget you may need to upgrade the controls pack again another £200, Merseyside prices.

I hope the thought of spending vast sums of money doesn't have an adverse effect on your golf

So do I as by the time that I've also paid for my new guttering, building work and garden my golf will be in a worst state that it was on Sunday. .. Which wasnt pretty.

That's got to be the worst news I've heard today, but then I did get up late!
