Hi Guys new on here 1st post, I,m after some info, I have been a corporate member of our club for about nearly a year, and have played in most of the competitions.

We have been told that we cannot play in any club competitions next year due to a ruling from the golf union that you cannot enter any club competitions unless you are a full member, can anyone confirm this please

Not sure about corporate membership but i know five day members play in midweek comps and some clubs allow them to play in weekend comps if they pay a green fee and comp fee.
also the most of the ladies at my club are not full members and they play in comps during the week.

As for a golf union ruling dont know, but they cannot tell a club how it should be run.

It will probably be down to the fact that the club doesn't pay the union an affiliation fee for the corporate members as it would do for ordinary members.

bit of a bummer, can't you change your membership category ?

Is it the union or the golf club. We have a similar ruling with Country Members not being allowed to play in competitions.

From what I gather it is more down to the difference in fees being paid.

If your playing through a Corporate membership then there is the chance you are getting all the benefits at a fraction of the price and in the interests of equality the club may wish to clamp down?

News to me. I play most weeks with a member who is signed up under a corporate scheme (armed forces). He's not said anything and as he's one of the keenest at my club, I think he'd know. Then again, I could be totally wrong.
