Going on hols there for a week and wondering what courses are good to play even in the depths of winter.

Planning on going to play Trevose or St.Enodoc as one of them, but hopefully get a second one in as well. I don't think I'll play both of these "illustrious" as nice to leave one for another time.

We'll be staying near to Mousehole and wondering where is also good within 40 minutes.

I fancy Mullion, as I'd love to do the most northerly/westerly/southerly-easterly in the UK at some point, and Mullion is the most southerly.

Cape Cornwall, west Cornwall and Praa sands are some of the nearer ones, any recommendations?

Newquay is nice, lovely views over fistral beach, not played it in the winter though, I would guess the wind would be th biggest issue. Don't bother with Perranporth, it's just wrong.

Perranporth is not wrong, it's brilliant fun! Lots of blind shots but just accept it for what it is, fun holiday golf. St Enodoc is streets ahead of Trevose, it's not even close.

Enjoy, I love playing golf down there.

I'm with D4S on this.. perranporth is a great course, a proper test... Bowood park is also pretty decent according to the boys, not got around to playing it myself yet. If you fancy a game at my club yelverton on the way past, just holla

great thread chaps, i get down to cornwall a few times a year and fancy throwing the clubs in next time so any info on courses is very handy:thup:

Sods law. We stayed near Milton Abbot about 3 years ago for a summer holiday, could have came then.

Sadly with the folks, the missus and the pooch so wont be able to on the way down or back.

I'm willing to travel the hour or more to St.Enodoc/Trevose for a day out (Mrs. Liverbirdie can go the witchcraft museum, she might show them a thing or two:whistle:. Only joking, she's great), but the other course will probably have to be within 30-40 minutes of Penzance, if I'm to get a second game in.

I want to play somewhere good, but also playable in winter. Mullion looks nice though.

Stayed at Trevose good deal V.F.M played there & Lanhydrock .as D4S said the main course at St Enodoc is the best - played both courses same day.

visited relatives in Penzance played Mullion - enjoyed it .

West Cornwall is nice :thup: - played Cape Cornwall its okay - Praa Sands is a little
9 hole course .

Cape Cornwall is a good course, you should enjoy it.

I love Mousehole (Mouzel), have stayed there lots over the years. Try to get there for Tom Bawcocks night in the Ship Inn. Great night!

I'm thinking of joining yelverton! How is the course holding up this time of year? Have just got back after being away with work

Iv'e been a member since June 2013 and the only time it's closed is due to heavy fog which is pretty rare, or a severe downpour and even then once it stops the Dartmoor leat drains off the course in no time. Right now the course is in fantastic condition, the greens are mint! Our head green keeper George Pitts, has the masters degree and is a bit of a perfectionist, so rarely do even biggest moaners have anything to complain about.

Couldnt agree with the post anymore! Trevose IMO is average, i would not rush back. St Enodoc i could play everyday. Perranporth is a top golf course and an absolute bargain.

St.Enodoc is winning out for the premium course day out, I looked at the flyovers of the holes last night. It seems an awesome course, with a changing landscape, and loads of really tough holes. All to be played in the middle of winter.

Pray for me.;)

St Enodoc is stunning. Trevose is nice, but not near the quality of St Enodoc, nor as challenging.
Perranport is good fun, enjoyed it as well.

Played the church course a few times and never been disappointed - you're in for a treat if you choose there as one of the courses
