I'm off to cornwall at end of the month for a week's golf and wondered if my county card (Surrey) can be used there. In an old thread on here which was about where to play, some folk suggest that it would be - but best i can find on-line is that Cornwall doesn't participate in the main scheme. (Seems there may be a SW regional scheme?)

Anyone used their card down in cornwall - and if yes, which county is your card?

Ta in advance for advice.

the only place we had an issue using them was St Enodoc - they took Wiltshire ones but not Hampshire.

I think from memory they only take - Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and maybe Gloucestershire

When we played at Ripon on the way back from Northumberland,( we were recommended Ripon over playing at Richmond). I called them and asked how much for four county card holders playing in a fourball. I was told £20 each. I booked a tee time over the phone there and then. On arrival I was informed at the pro shop that I had been told the wrong price, and that it was actually £24. A massive saving of £1 on the Internet booking. To say I was bogged off was an understatement. Especially when they told me it was the second time that week they had told someone the wrong price. The others being a women's fourball.
At the moment it seems a bit hit and miss whether a County card is actually any good.
Er hope that helps😁

Ta. That has a distinct "whiff" of a SW regional thing about it - Surrey might be stretching it a bit but I can ask (But was that just St Enodoc - or generally in the county?)

Continental drift must be worse than I thought. Ripon wasn't in Cornwall last time I looked :) But your comment about whether County cards are always worth it appreciated..

We had an issue when booking with a County Card and then finding out it was their "regional" one only - think it was at Lanhydrock. Luckily I checked the website and then phoned them back to check the situation. We said we'd cancel the booking and they honoured the County Card price.
