Hi I use a set of Ping EYE2+ irons, and get on Ok with them but not great (only been playing a few months since car crash, average 45 on the local 9 hole course). Every thing I have read about them seems to point to them still being a good set of irons with many people regret selling them, but are they viewed with rose tinted glasses?
I picked up a Ping G5 6 iron a little while ago and used it yesterday for the first time and found it a lot easier to hit, a little longer and it sent the ball where I told it to.

Having done this I am seriously considering changing my eye2's for something a lot newer. I know it sounds like I have already convinced myself but I am not sure this is not just a honeymoon period.

U dont need convincing.......u have already done that yourself

Ping eye 2 ....... good clubs, not their most forgiven, but nowhere near as easy to use as G5, G10, G20, etc

U say u get on OK with them, but not great.............means ready for an upgrade to me £££ splash the cash

If your game is still settling, I would be wary of an upgrade yet. What suits you now may not suit you in 6 months time if you have improved further between now and then.

Eye2s have stood the test of time, but like anything else, if they don't quite suit you they don't quite suit you.

Give the others a try. Eye 2's are still a good club though so don't change just for change's sake ;) make sure what you are thinking of is really going to make you better.

Why not stick with the Eye 2s for a while and get some lessons instead ?

I agree with DCB. Get some lessons and get a swing that has a degree of consistency to it and then you can open up a wide range of clubs. Game improver (i.e. larger cavity backs) like the Ping G10, 15 or 20 will do you well but think about Cally's X range (X20, X22 etc) the TM RBZ (latest offering so maybe pricey) or Mizzy MX's

Try before you but would be my advice

Spend the money on a course of lessons this year, save up enough money and get a proper fitting over the next winter break.

You could always ask your pro about your clubs during the lesson. They might want to sell you some clubs but most pros will be honest with you or at least try and sell you more lessons first (which is not a bad thing IMO).

I'm in a similar situation. Got a set of G10's at the moment which I'm starting to hit pretty well although I have fallen in love with the Cobra Amp's (kind of annoying they are now situated to the right of the forum tempting me every time im on here). G10's will do me for a while I'm sure but look at those Amp's...soooooo sexy!

Being a mizuno fan,and playing with a set of mx300,which I love,a friend of a friend was selling a set of Ping Rapture clubs for 300 quid,so I had a look at them, took them on the practice area, and for about an hour hit the 7 and 8 irons and was really tempted, they felt good and very forgiving,
he told me they were half an inch shorter than my own clubs, would that make such a difference?
