Hi Newbie to this forum here and relative newbie to a handicap committee.

I hope this is the correct forum category

My question is

When printing off the Continuous Review Report what date range are current committee members using?
eg are you using the previous whole year, weeks since the last annual handicap review or current year only.

The report at the moment goes back to Jan 2016 - it does currently the current qualifying year and the past one qualifying year

Are you setting a date range or are you just asking for the report?

When we set the date range as 1-1-17 to current we only have 4 players on the report.

We don't set the date range - just run it

How many players with 7 consecutive 0.1 handicap increases this year would you expect to see?
How many qualifiers do you have during the winter?
As this report runs on a rolling basis and does not re-set at the end of a calendar year, you should also include previous (ie last) years.

We very rarely have non qualifiers so their were 4 on the report that we generated with a start date of 1-1-17.

@ Rule fan this was part of the problem it appears that it did reset at 1.1.17 as players known to have 7 0.1 increases did not get expected reviews.

We have now been told to set start and finish dates so I am just looking for guidance on dates to set. One of the problems we noticed last year was that players whose handicaps had been reviewed were still on the list.

I was told that that it included the current qualifying period and the last qualifying period hence why our automatic report runs from Jan 2016

Reviews are now carried out before the end of the year the new handicap year now starts on 1st January
Are you confusing the Annual Review (AR) and the Continuous Handicap Review (CHR), which should be run on a monthly during the playing season?
This report runs on a rolling basis and does not re-set at the end of a calendar year.

Annual Review: The Annual Review is a process whereby the Handicap Committee is required to consider the playing performance of all Members over the preceding year in relation to their current handicap and make any adjustment considered appropriate.

Continuous Handicap Review: A computer-generated report which flags players with 7 consecutive 0.1 handicap increases. Handicap Committees are recommended to review the performance of such players giving due consideration to applying a handicap increase.

Do you mean an increase? The CHR is about identifying those in need of strokes not reductions.

I think CHS is designed to help identify decliners, people that may just not be as good as they were due to age, illness, injury, etc.

We will run a report once a quarter from now on.

23.16 Handicap Committees should review the handicaps of players to identify those players who are under-handicapped by running the Continuous Review Report on a monthly basis during the playing season.

It is the CHR. As previously said, the report allows a date range to be set and I am asking other Handicap committee members what date range they are using.

Monthly? That's interesting , when I attended a handicap sec meeting for the BB&O a few months the EGU presented and said that quarterly was a good time to run the report.

I got the impression that there wasn't any hard and fast rules on this?

I don't know who said it but CONGU recommends monthly. I will have words with them.

A player can easily clock up a dozen or more consecutive 0.1s playing in the weekly medal alone, without it coming to the attention of the committee. By which time nearly half the season has gone.
