Quick question

Have just received my new bank card and with it is contact less payment

So the question is - do I need to register it for contactless or is it ready to go ?

Is there a maximum spend also ?

By coincidence I've just referred to my one of these on the iPhone6 thread.

I think there is a limit because you don't have to enter a PIN. I have so far only used it to buy a coffee in Woking Station Starbucks so not come across the restrictions that there will be - I think I just made the usual activation call - no registration that I can recall doing. I think limit's £20/purchase but must check myself. Don't know what daily limit is - there will be one.

I've only done it once, for the novelty! !,

you don't have to register, and I believe the limit to be around £20

Yes - just checked. £20 limit but no daily limit on number of timers or total amount - you just have to enter your PIN every so often when requested for security.

Just wave away, no registering - up to £20 usually...no limit i know on max per day, dont think there is one.

You were almost certainly provided with the info - quite possibly with the card.

But in 'typical Male' style, probably didn't bother 'reading the manual'!

Yep spot on!

Very handy for small purchases like coffees etc although not too many places geared up for it yet.

It's ace, wish more places had it available.

Am sure when it first came out the limit was a tenner, if its now twenty then confidence is growing and it'll become more mainstream.

They trialed this nearly 20 years ago in Swindon.
They had about 8% of trialists say they liked it and would use it often.
The guy running the trial was delighted and said that it was an exceptionally high take up for this type of project.

We had contactless payment (of a sort) back in the mid 90's at Oracle where I worked. Put cash on the card and then just swiped at vending machines and in the canteen. Not had a new card through to try it though
