Since moving to my new club on Jan 1st, I've played to my handicap twice (started at 10.8 now 12.3)

Consistency is my key issue, take yesterday for example......

Front nine, 4 no returns and 12 points.
Back nine, 8 pars, 1 bogey and 23 points!!! With a missed 2 footer for birdie on a par 5.....

How on earth do you do that, especially when our back 9 is much tougher than the front nine....

Last Friday at another course, front nine started with a double bogey and then proceeded to get 22 points on the next 8 holes... Back nine, 10 points in the first 4 holes, 32 points after 13 holes, walked off 18 with 33!!!

Oh well, it'll come together soon, hopefully!!! Ha ha.....

Par for the course nice you get back down to singles. Happens quite a bit. good front, throw it away back. Or, rubbish front, great back to save a 0.1

Start thinking, if only I could put the two 9's together. Very rarely happens though. Do it more often and you would be category 1 !

I just know that I'm consistently inconsistent! :one:

Not only are you consistently inconsistent, you are consistent with the consistent majority of golfers .... :)

In my case I find I play well when I haven't played for ages, so I should play golf less often more often

Sounds pretty much identical to me yesterday.

Played the EOS Stableford had a poor front 9. Then put together a few pars and 2 birdies on the back 9 to save a 0.1!

But I guess that's why we love this game and keep coming back...

Inconsistency has killed me the last few months.

Medal final today, I take a 8 on our 120yard par3 4th and a 8 on a easy 315 yard par4 and manage to buffer by shooting +3.

Funny old game ain't it!

My last 3 rounds read;

75 gross - over the moon with the way I played. 33 gross front 9!
75 gross - gutted! Finished with a 7 on a par 4... 5yds short of the green in two, and walk away with a seven. 33 gross front 9!
75 gross - nothing to get excited about. Only two birdies, and loads of missed chances.

Very consistent, but it obviously isn't always about the scores.... or is it?

I had to google the meaning of this word consistency. Played with Ads749r today. He went out in 14 points and I limped out in 15 with two blobs and then came back in +4 gross (20 points) and he came back under handicap with 19. He didn't get going for the first seven holes whereas I started well and then had too many errors in the middle of the round. Still can't string 18 holes together. On the plus side we've formed a new dream team for the winter knockout although if we gel like today we're be 6 down after 7 (not unheard of with Hawkeye as my partner)

hahaha it will be that bad we will be 9 down after 4. I think the dream team will benefit the way we play. You start of solid then I bring up the rear. I honestly thought after them 7 holes you played I was like how the hell can I compete with this, boom down the middle, on green then solid putting. Had me doubting if I am a 14 handicapper especially the way andy was playing too.Consistency is a crazy thing as I know the next time I will play I will be destroying the front 9 holes and my driving will be big again but then my 100yds in will be plop. If you can improve a couple of % in every department and string it all together that could be an extra shot or 2 saved. Slowly build up consistency from the green back to the tee ie start putting slightly better then pitching, full shots and driving if you can just get it all flowing at the same time I think that's the key to consistency. Being ok/good in all areas. Pfffft easier said than done.

TBH as a handicap golfer unless of course you are elite Am, consistency is prob the hardest part, unless of course your handicap is too high and you don't play any comps;)

The dream team is ready to rock. Need to stop the silly errors like missing a green twice from 100 yards. I think both games are coming. Consistency. If only

Not really, we tee off at 7:30, I was there at 6:45 but it was still dark....ish.

I always struggle with our first 2 holes, neither if which are difficult either, I think the last time I had more than 2 points on those two was my only level par round. I also struggle with our 6th and 7th, think I need to play those 4 holes over and over until I can play them......

This week the fog didn't lift until half way down the 6th....

Take a look at what the Pros do. They always warm up on the range and putting green before playing.

Looking at what the low cat1 guys at my course do, they all hit balls, practice wedge shots and then practice putting before their round starts. More than coincidental that these guys are consistently carding competitive rounds in the low 70s.

The bold parts above are your issue. If you go out thinking this then it will almost certainly happen.

But hey I'm a high handicapper so I should maybe take my own advice! ;)
