As I now have a bag almost full of new shinies I'm thinking why don't I go the full hog and update or upgrade my wedges also?

I've currently got in my bag the MP-T4's 56/12, 52/7 and 60/5, I like this combo of loft & bounce and I have 2 more that I can swap in & out being a 54 & 58.

They are all around 2.5 years old when I think they were first released, possibly a little older so the main wear is only on the 56 (sand wedge) all the others are more than OK, but it's itching at me to look at some new wedges.

So, what's hot and what's not, or should I stick with what I have because a part of me is thinking that wedges are like a driver or a putter and are very personal due to feel, so, what should I do, are there any deals out there on great wedges that are too good to pass on, or should I stick "no deal" :mmm:

I know that many folk on here are 'new-club whores' and buy new as often as the sun comes up. But your wedges are only 2 1/2 years old. So nah, stick with what you have. Buy Mrs Fish a present and earn yourself some brownie points.

If necessary, re-grip them with grips to match your new shinies and pretend they are new ...

The time to get new wedges is when they begin to give you less spin than you need.
Wedges are a feel club, you get used to how the ball reacts. If the ball starts running further than you're used to - that's the time to think about new ones.
But bear in mind that they will spin like crazy!!

Keep your money in your pocket, your existing wedges are barely run in yet.

No...Buy shinies. You'll play better.
Seriously though, I don't think any of the wedges on the market these days are rubbish. It's all down to personal preference. First trip out on the course for my new Clevelands on Saturday. Will let you know.

Current wedges i would look at

Vokeys
TM TP Preferred
Mack Daddy
Ping Glide

Did a bit of testing month or so back and the ones i liked were the mack daddys

those mizzys are un comfortable with all the TM gear best get some new ones.... ;)

Wedges are a personal choice and if you are happy stick with them, if not have a look about to see what suits your eye, there are not many bad wedges.
Does seems some decent offers on clevelands atm and these are very good IMO.

I think those are 2014, so i doubt they are worn, I'm still using MP10 which came out at least 5 or 6 years ago, i can't see me changing them until the groves in them are no longer allowed in i think 2023!!

Wedges can be a personal thing i find, not sure what i would do if i had to change mine now..... i don't like the look of any of the currents models from any brand.

Wedges are the one club I would change often as they see a lot of use in play and practice. They also seem to attract the most damage!

I would say every 3-4 full seasons would be a good guide for me. I'm on my second set after 5 years, wore out my first lot due to stones

I tried a 56° ping glide recently. It just goes miles in the air.
Couldn't get any more than about 85yds with it. My MD2 58° goes 85 and my old mizuno 56 went 95.

If I were looking now I'd be going to St. Ives and getting a proper fitting for Vokeys.

I would do whatever makes you happy.
After all, we play this game for enjoyment, not punishment, don't we?
This morning my Vokey SM4's were delivered 2nd hand from the bay, may not be the cutting edge of recent wedges available but they have installed something my dunlop wedges haven't done before, excitement, confidence, anticipation.
I cannot wait to get to the range tomorrow to do, more than likely, nothing different with them, but knowing I know have a bit of quality kit, its making me itch to get out there for a round!

Padraig Harrington changes his wedges every 3 weeks. So yes, buy more clubs.

I have an old Ram 60 degree wedge and I wouldn't change it for the world. I am adding a Cleveland CG15 52 degree to the bag in the next few weeks.

I would definitely try the Cleveland rotex 2.0. I really like mine, doesn't stop me looking at new ones like, but they are very good imo.
I change mine every year, usually due to being bored with what I have.
