Great to see him win his first event--hopefully he will win his second shortly. This win shold help his career. A lost would,IMHO, has had a detrimental effect on his career.

Congrats again.

Well he's done it. Something clearly went wrong over some of the closing holes, but he gathered himself together & even with making a mistake of choices over the last straight into the bunker, managed to learn from Oosties bunker shot & managed to grab victory out of the jaws of defeat...

Well done Rory....!!!!

Wasn't a Rory Fan, but like with all the Irish players I watch, he's certainly a player I will regularly watch from now. Always known he's had it in him, but up until today he's always been boy blunder instead of wonder.

He may have blundered a bit over the final holes but still pulled the rabbit out of the hat when it mattered. And now that he's done it once, he will do it again, repeadedly.

Hopefully, Europe has now got the answer to Tiger...

Good on yer Rory... Get some of the black stuff in that coffee pot when you get back home to celebrate.. Oh & I don't mean coffee either, unless its coffee flavoured guinness...rofl.

Let’s not forget he’s only 19 ..... the fact that it didn't go as planned but he kept his game and mind together bodes well for him ... well done Rory

Damn didnt get to see him close it out, he was 22 under when I last looked and on to set the record for lowest score. Was it a combination of that and a late serge by Justin that made him wobble?

Well done, Love to see the guys from the UK&I do well, especially the younger ones.

He may have messed up a bit on 15,16,17 but the up and down on 18 was a clear showing of strength. Him and I are both the same age and I collapse over a £5 bet!

Probably a few memories of his "chokes" from recent events didn't help him. Now he's won, just watch him go. Now he knows he can win and everyone else had better watch out!!

And guess who dropped him from his Fantasy League team this week!! DOH!

Well done fella, Our assistant pro was over watching him this week too. I think this year is the start of a very distinguished career, people are talking about opens, masters etc. If he takes each competition as he approached this one, he will do very well for himself.
I think he has just cemented his place in the top 50, masters, open and ryder cup. Not bad for a local lad and I'll bet his dad will be feeling that it has all been worth it,mission accomplished.

His coach is our club pro and he practices here whenever he isnt on tour (ive watched him practice with my jaw open many times), he is originally from Holywood (as am I) a couple of miles away though, I worked with his dad for years when I was in my late teens and am so happy just to see the lad do well, a genuine father son combo that deserve the credit they receive.

He Certainly is an exciting young prospect, I expect he will now get a lot more coverage and rightly so.

Must be good to have someone like that around every now and then Brendy.

Do you take lessons from the pro, how good would it be to say you are coached by the same guy as Rory Mc :D

Hope so Tony, I fixed a laptop belonging to the assistant pro in exchange for a lesson or two. My titleist irons were originally Michael Bannon's from the titleist folk though he had no need for them as he was happy with his own set.
Someone hasn't wasted any time in updating his wiki page he only won it a few hours ago.

I may be a dissenter in the crowd here and I am glad that he won as it obviously got that particular monkey off his back but I'm still not convinced he has the temperament to REGULARLY close out big events especially if he hasn't got such a commanding lead or has to come from behind.

I'm not saying he isn't a prodigious talent as his ball striking was awesome at times this week but I am not convinced he has the all round game to regularly seal the deal. That said he can only get better with experience and the fact that he has a win will help. I hope I'm proved wrong but time will tell.
