Confused

Me and my Ping G10 4 wood have fallen out for the last time. Its obviously the clubee and not the club but not only do we not talk, we don't even exchange glances anymore - we're finished!!

So I went along to AG to try some 3 woods out and came across a nice looking Callaway FT 3 wood. Secondhand but in decent nick. It's the draw bias with a regular shaft and I gave it a go. Got the guy to check swing speeds etcon the monitor and spent about 30 minutes hitting this club.

Almost every shot - according to the computer - was pushed, faded or sliced. Carry about 220, total about 235 with a swing speed around the 100 mark.

My view of the shots was that they seemed ok. I'd picked a mark on the curtain and aimed at that. Spookily I hit it more often than not. I my estimation most shots were straightish.

Anyway, the club felt good and they only wanted £75 for it so its now in my bag. But I went to the range on the way home to try it in the open.

Sure enough almost all shots flew straightish, some with the hint of a draw!!

So........

What the hell was the computer talking about??????????????

With Launch Monitor were they using Imurg? Was it the Vector? I've heard they aren't the best.

I tried out a few 3 woods at the local nevada bobs and the monitor showed every shot pulling to the left when i just knew that they weren't. Don't trust them now and i'll only buy a club that i can hit on a range a few times to check ball flight.

Other monitors are probably better and more accurate, but i'm not so sure about the one in Nevada Bobs.

As mentioned, the Vector ones aren't the best, and to be honest, I, personally, wouldn't trust the results.

Flightscope or Trackman are the two you want to look out for.

Ages ago at an AG members weekend you were asked to hot three balls with a Nike driver.

I hit three and each one was around the 230 mark and straight. At that time I had had one lesson and couldn't the ball that well and never three straight ones in a row.

I wondered if it was biased to make you look better than you are so you buy the stuff!!!

220 carry, 235 total, 100 mph....check....good (seems spot on)

Push, fade, slice = certainly a possible combo....just a little inconsistency with your path.....

logically (i.m.o.) all three shots could have an identical face angle, just a small deviation in path.....

Now, if it had said hook, then draw then wild banana slice, I'd be worried!!!

I don't trust any AG monitor information. If I want to try a club I take it onto the adjacent range where I can see everything I need to know for myself.
