I think he has pulled himself out to save himself any embarrassment, I can't imagine he was seriously being considered, to be left out would have raised so many questions so this is just like a footballer retiring from international duty, self harm is better than public humiliation

sensible decision all around, Tiger never seemed to get the ryder cup when fully fit and in his pomp, so an injured and half Tiger not playing just makes sense.

right decision. Tiger with a bad back and poor swing in a -cold wet windy muddy Scottish course where the grass hasn't grown an inch in 4 weeks- would not be a pretty sight.

I wish he was fit and playing. I know he has many detractors but when playing well he adds a lot to any event for me. Maybe Butch put a quiet word in too as he was dead against him carrying on like this. I thought he was quite sporting during the presentation last time, moreso than some of his team mates.

You may well be correct, but it makes it easy for both men if Tiger announces he's still injured, the world believe Tiger would have been selected if fit and Watson doesn't face the "was your first mistake choosing to leave Tiger at home?" type questions when Paul McGinley lifts the trophy!
