Members of the armed forces maybe, as they have been out of the country for long spells recently and will not be getting full value out of their fees. Everyone else should pay full whack.

i would agree with the police, these people deserve as much credit as our armed forces do (well almost) I would not argue with them having discount (not in anyway swayed by me applying next intake :D )

What about us lonely paid NHS staff. Don't we deserve something too.

Actually to be honest I'm not in favour of anyone getting discounted rates as it opens up a whole can of worms. Where do you draw the line.

You give it to the police so nurses and the fire service want it. Add in concessions for the armed forces as well and there are suddenly a lot of people looking for money off because of their chosen career.

What justification can you give to give concessions to the polis, Tony?

Re: Concessionary rates ?

The police, get concessions, for what? Being completely and utterly inept, useluss and a bunch of fairies?

I have absolutely NO time for the old bill whatsoever. We had £29,000 worth of vandalism done to our cars, the law took 2 days to attend, took the CCTV, nicked the little scrote who did it, he admitted it, plod decided that a caution was the best resolution.

I shall go on.

We have a problem with pikies near us. I witnessed said diddy-coys hooking a length of chain around concrete posts, attaching the chain to their tow-bar and ripping the posts out to get their caravans onto private land. 2 Coppers were watching and ignoring it. I went spare at them, they said there was nothing they could do as no offence was being committed (utter crap), I told them they were scared tossers and they threatened to nick me.

A friend of mine is old bill, they were pursuing a stolen car, it went into a pikey camp in stockbury and they were told to end the pursuit. Again, the old bill are wimps unless it is 20 of them with CS and battons.

When I worked on the door a guy whacked a bar-maid and broke her nose because she wouldn't serve him as he was lashed. He then bottled another doorman. I gave him a bit of a dig and was lifted for it.

Oh and as for PCSO's, ha ha ha ha ha, there is one down here who thinks he is some sort of hardman but ran away from a couple of hoodies who egged and flowered him, burst into tears and threatened to quit.

Sorry to rant and apologies to any coppers who work for a decent force.

Re: Concessionary rates ?

BTW, armed forces? Absolutely. These guys are heroes and some of them take home less in a month than some of us do in a good week.

Clergymen - Why? I am a Roman Catholic but just becuase somebody is a Priest, Vicar, Imam or whatever, why should they be treated preferentially?

Re: Concessionary rates ?

No Offence but your forces must be really cack, we have the same problems up here and our forces do a cracking job. Pikeys always set up camp next to us, they come knicking scrap metal out of the skips, the cops just go round and get it back. As a Security Manager i work very closely with the police and have friends in both merseyside and cheshire police. Everytime we have some theiving little cnut claiming we assualted them after they were detained they just tighten the cuffs and laugh. The outcome of punishment is not down to the police, its down to the shit5 justifaction system that the men and women in white wigs run. Beleive me, everytime some little shi7 gets off with a suspended sentance, you can bet ya bottom dollar that the officers are twice as annoyed as you.

So apart from armed forces, is there anyone else you guys think are entitled to concessions?

How about my cat- he's quite an affable chap? not much good in a fight but never done anyone any harm. Might struggle carrying an SA80 into battle but pikey proof claws make him an asset to the home front. :D

Re: Concessionary rates ?

This may offend but hey ho, i am a little fed up with "keyworkers" getting discounted living and priority on housing etc. These people choose there careers just as i have chosen mine. Before they go into it they know what the pay is going to be like and what crap they may get from the mindless people in our society. So why do they quallify for reductions over the rest of us?

Having said that people whho serve in the forces should be able to receive a discount as when they are on tour they are not going to be able to use the course. But i don't see this as a concession, it is just a fair way for them to pay for the service that they can use a limited amount of time.

Re: Concessionary rates ?

I am a Key Worker + Mrs htl.

We both chose our jobs because we love teaching, due to the pay being crap we would never be able to afford to buy in London without the Key Workers scheme.

We have no priority in buying a house just a loan from the government to help us out that we have to pay back after we have sold.

Th government has a choice, keep this scheme going or have no Police, Nurses, Teaches, Lecturers, Fire Brigade etc in London. Its your choice.

Re: Concessionary rates ?

Not directed at you HTL but I get the arse when people moan about their pay.

I have 3 mates who are coppers. 2 are on £23k as pc's and the other is on £31k as a sargeant. And they moan about crap pay!

It is the same with other people such as civil servants who get cushy hours, a decent wage and a fat pension that I am paying for.... and then they moan, idiots.

If I have a crap time and don't sell any cars I end up paying myself precisely sweet F.A but do I complain, nope. I know the situation and if I don't like it I can always get a "regular" job.

Think of the poor bastards stuck in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Some of the privates are taking home around £11,500 per year, risking their lives on a daily basis, being deprived of a decent standard of food & hygeine whilst being furnished with sub-standard equipment. Do these guys moan, not often. They are heroes, simple as that and I am bloody proud of these men & women and that is why if I see a group of squaddies in the pub, I will always chuck them a score for a few drinks.

Re: Concessionary rates ?

No probs Medwayjon, needed to vent after Mr-top-shot comments.

I have utmost respect for our service men + women, its a job I could never do and think its a disgrace the pay they get.

I love my job and do it that for that reason alone (and a 21 hour week), the pay is crap for London, without the Key Workers scheme I would be screwed.

With regard to the post, no I dont belive clubs should offer Concessionary rates to people, their is a vast avey of clubs to join with hugly different prices its up to these people to find a club to suit their finances not the other way around.
