In a 4bbb match play , a player is out of contention and is conceded a putt for say a 8. I think a concession can't be refused.
But can the player getting the concession still make a stroke towards the hole , giving his partner an idea of the line.
I know his partner can't stand directly behind him watching but he would still get some idea of breaks etc. Or must he lift the ball when conceded.?

2-4/6
Putting Out After Concession of Stroke

Rule 2-4 does not cover the question of whether a player may putt out after his next stroke has been conceded. A player incurs no penalty for holing out in such circumstances. However, if the act would be of assistance to a partner in a four-ball or best-ball match, the partner is, in equity (Rule 1-4), disqualified for the hole.

THANKS I JUST WON A PINT::cheers:

Watch your wording though?

I was playing a match against a newish high handicapper.
He had putted to about four feet and asked if that was all right.
I naturally thought he meant for marking as he was nearly on my line and got quite a surprise when he picked his ball up.

assumption makes an ass out of..................

I played in a final of a 4bbb and one of the opposition was an obnoxious sod. My partner and I were on pretty much the same line and he argued that my partner wasn't allowed to putt as he couldn't halve or win the hole. I disagreed and he gave me the line, I duly missed my putt and happily told matey that if he simply conceded the putt we would have picked up, he wasn't amused!
