I've just bought two new laptops for me and Mrs Colch. Went to install the printer software and realised we've lost the disk. Have got an HP Photosmart 5524 printer. Is it possible to install without the CD?
i would also recomend using the HP solution center software. very simple to use, great for scanning and keeping an eye on ink levels. Not sure if its part of the driver download...
When I buy new hardware I always download the latest driver from the manufacturer's website in case there has been an update since the installation CD was written.
1st thing i would do is throw the hp away,i bought 1 when i bought to lappys, had nothing but problems with it,had new printer heads sent to me with free ink because i spent more time printing test pages etc, then a complete new printer sent.and STILL it didnt work as a printer should.
bought a 2nd hand kodak printer excellent but alas that too has now gone in the bin as that developed a problem.
we now have a cannon jobby(well the boy does).so far so good.
still have an hp g series in the loft, apart from the inks costing an arm n leg,im pretty sure if i plugged it in it would work.and at the time that cost £450 and printed at 2400dpi.oh how theyve moved on.
Each to their own Greggers but we've had no problems with it in the 4 years we've had it. Had a Kodak before this and had nothing but trouble with it - it was so bad that I took it back to Curry's and dropped it on the floor in front of their salesman and told them it was broken. Probably pot luck when it comes to these things and sometimes you get a good one and sometimes you get a bad one.
And thank you gentlemen to everyone that gave advice. Even for a techno retard such as myself I now have two laptops that are wirelessly connected to my printer.
get your smart phone added to it aswel, that way you can print any photos or docs from your phone, handy little feature that is.
fair play about taking it back, sometimes taking strong tactics like that works in your favour.
i know someone who took a 3 piece suite back to the shop and dumped it in the doorway.
