Switched on the desk top pc last night and the mouse wasn't working, checked the usual is it plugged in etc, tried a different mouse, then realised the keyboard wasn't working either.

Swapped the ancillaries to a different usb port and no change, in fact none of the usb ports appear to be working and without the keyboard or mouse how can I interrogate the system?

The mouse does flash once when plugged in, so is getting power, but the pc appears not to be sending a signal out of any of the usb ports.

Did try the old switch it off, wait 10 mins and switch it back on trick to no avail - help!

do the mouse/keyboard work in bios? (hold delete on startup usually)

if not then chances are its a motherboard issue, if they do then its a driver issue in windoze
