Yes i do have google but i cant find many useful sites, just after an inside track on some decent sites/info that people use regularly.

Having just joined my first club and really getting the golf bug back i am hearing on here about forum comps/volvo matchplay etc and really wanting to get involved in some comps and opens.

So could some kind folks please chip in with sites they use to find these and info about them, i also see county golf mentioned now and again...just wondering if this type of thing is only open to the elite skilled golfers ie cat1/scratch

Im already on EGU wich ive registered with and howdidido wich wont let me register as it cant find me... i think thats because i havent played a comp yet though.

Any input appreciated. Thanks in advance chaps! :)

If you have been allocated a handicap, then you should be able to register on howdidido - assuming that your club uses the appropriate software.

In Scotland we have the "Wee Yellow Book" wich is also online http://www.weeyellowbook.com/index.php?section=1 . This lists over 1,900 Open Competitions in all categories and formats. Basically our "Bible" Do you not have anything similar?

No we don't. Still living in 19th Century down here!

I tried to register for wee yellow book last year as I come to Scotland to play in Opens. I could not register. When is the 2012 editition out please?

Usually January although it was late this year after they made a monumental balls up with all the dates they had printed and so had to recall the first printed edition.....costly error!

Golf Empire is pretty good too.

We are quite lucky up here. Usually they print a fixture list of all the opens for the highland region in the local paper at the end of march They then print A3 version of it and give a stack to all the clubs. However the paper is getting greedy and only printed the fixtures of clubs that paid to advertise on the sides, where they had done them all before.
