Evening all,

im im looking for some help/ideas from any of you.

There are 8 of us playing at the Nottinghamshire course in the summer for my brothers stag weekend.
We have a round on the Friday and a round on the Saturday.

There are only 2 people that are good enough to have a handicap. One plays off 18 and the other 22.

As I am organising it all for my brother I am looking at a way we can have a competition between us in maybe 2 teams of 4 and an overall individual competition but I'm not sure how we can go about scoring.

i would really appreciate any help or ideas as I'm new to golf and never been on a golf weekend

thanks

matt

I organised a stag do at the Belfry last year for 16. I picked 4 teams of 4 with no two players in the same team over the two rounds. Each team made up of players with a variety of abilities. Stableford scoring with best two scores from the team counting on each hole. Main prize was for the team event with minor prizes for individual on each day. Every team was also given a yellow ball for each player to use every fourth hole until it was lost, the team keeping the yellow ball longest won a minor prize. Worked very well with only two players failing to win a prize, everyone enjoyed it so much I've been asked to organise a stag anniversary weekend!! With just 8 players guess this would not work so well but you could instead try it with teams of two and playing better ball.

Does that mean the other 6 haven't got a handicap or can't play golf? Wouldn't like to be out behind your group if it's the later...!

A common misconception, of the 16 on our stag do only half had handicaps and 3 had hardly played golf of any sort before, but they were all well aware of others around them and so we kept up with the groups in front. At the end we were well within the time allowed for rounds at the Belfry without any contact with a marshal. I have played with many a single figure player who tries to copy the pro's with regards to pace of play.

Out of the 8 of us....one plays off 18, another plays off 22. Then theres 4 of us that have started playing in the last year and usually walk a round in about 4 hours so within the time. The other 2 aren't that great but they know they cant play too slow or spend ages looking for a ball. We have got 8 buggies between us aswell so that gives us abit of extra time. Just trying to find a way we can score between us so we can have a 2 team competition and an individual one.
