Went out in the comp yesterday teed off at 1pm first two to enter but told by pro they may not be a comp because of weather so asked if the comp got cancelled if I could hand my card in as a supplementary, I went out and played very steady golf chipping an putting very good for a change and driving a lot better than lately to come in with a score of 43 points and five 3s on the card. I'm hoping they accept my card for reduction but if not I will just have to do it in a comp and win the money off a higher hcp an get cut that way, I'm hoping on a cut of 1.2 which will take me to 7.2 hopefully the par of course is 69 what do you guys Rekon my current hcp is 8.4

Even if the comp was rained off after you completed your round, your card should have been processed and any relevant cut made. The actual comp should then be rescheduled.

AS far as i know if they dont generate a CSS you cut will be calculated off the SSS,

whats the css for the comp tees ? same as with a supp card

Your club should have a procedure for supplementary cards which usually involves signing in beforehand - or advising the pro perhaps.

You need the SSS for the tees you played of. The par is 69 so if the SSS is also 69 then 36 points equals playing to handicap. If say the SSS is 70 then 35 points is to handicap, if it's 68 then 37 points, and so on. From there you can work out how many shots under you were and what the cut should be...

Edit - crossed posts! So 37 points is to handicap...

Had a very similar scenario at the weekend.
Comp was called off, we found out on the 9th. I had a good score going and the course was perfectly playable so my FC and I carried on (note: the course was not closed, just the comp called off). I played the remaining holes still under comp conditions, FC marked my card. Both signed it and I handed it in to the handicap sec. Scored 40points, par 70 SSS70. Cut was calculated from the SSS.
A bit gutting because CSS probably would have gone up in those conditions, but still a nice cut and an ESR :)
Handicap sec congratulated me on being an honest man, then he saw my name on the card and said, oh yes, I've heard about you! LOL.

As stated I'm my first post Amanda I asked if the comp was going to be called off I asked to use it as a supplementary the pro said fine we played from the comp tees and under competition rules so in theory I'm hoping for a cut of at least 1.2 taking to my lowest hcp yet

Sounds like that would be fair. Why has it been declared a non qualifier?

.
That solves that then ..

Would have been a nice cut aswell , hard luck mate , just do it again next time out

The pro did sign my card as a supplementary as I had asked before I went out and the secretary did say if it was signed by the pro it can be a supplementary

Sorry mate and for you i hope it is but as my earlier question , if its non qualifying weather wise i wouldnt be so sure you could submit a card .. just wondering tho , i dont know the answer

That's a strange one. Did it start off as a qualifier? If it did, the worst case it should be reductions only.

Yes it was a midweek stableford (Q) the weather put people off turning up granted it was slinging it down early morning I teed off at 1 in misty rain by the 9th hole I was in my t shirt an stayed that way until finishing just a lot of old miserable fair weather golfers at our club

Sec is wrong in stating it was a non qualifier. He must follow correct procedure. If you went off at 1pm and course was playable then score should stand. Low numbers entering can not be used to change status of comp once it had started.

DCB (and others here) are correct

Sec is incorrect (as presented)

Pro is incorrect (as presented)

when you teed off you were either playing a Q comp or you weren't - as presented it was a Q comp. If the competition was abandoned (there was no basis for this from what is presented) and you completed the round then CONGU requires that the comp reverts to reductions only from the SSS - the end.

if you were playing a Q comp you can't sign in for a Supplemental

if you were playing a comp that was designated non-Q prior to starting you can't sign in for a supplemental

BUT the correct solution will deliver exactly the same impact to your handicap at this point (a revision based on SSS) so it's probably not worth taking it further - that you were 'robbed of a competition win doesn't matter in the bigger scheme of things; only handicap cuts!
