Over the past few days my computer seems to be taking for ever to open pages , it has become so slow, to type this post has taken over 5 mins as it keeps freezing. Anyone know what I can try to speed it up or do I have to run some checks. I have done the normal things like shout and swear but they don't seem to of made any difference.

Thanks for any help, any posts will need to be simple as I do not have a clue with computers.

Cheers

Far be it for me to give advice about computers, but when this happens on mine I just switch off the wireless router, make a cup of tea, switch it back on and it usually does the trick!

It can't be that easy, surely!! Worth a try. :)

Take a stick to it. And I don't mean a memory stick either!

You will probably get a call soon from your Internet provider asking you to upgrade to super fast broadband.

Mines the same it now takes ages to open the forum pages , everything else seems ok . I cleared my cache deleted all other forum messages but its still very slow to connect to, glad its not just me.

Are you using chrome?
If so you might have to disable their shockwave player.
I was having a similar problem, dead slow, with a message "shockwave flash crashed".
Googled it and some geek sight had a dead simple fix. Its been fine since.

Try downloading and running this program (free download):
http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Should clear any nastys off your computer, let us know if that does te trick.

Great shout, always run this if I have issues, also use in depth scan with your anti virus software. Don't forget...
Scan normally.
Restart in Safe Mode with network disabled, scan again.
Restart pc normally but again with network disabled, scan again.
Restart as normal.
Scan with both Malwarebytes and your anti virus each time. Takes a while but is worth it.

Your first problem may be that you are clicking internet explorer instead of google chrome.

If you have not got google chrome, click internet explorer, go to google.com search for google chrome. Download it and use that instead
