Yes I did it... I forgot to shake someones hand at the end of a game!

In my defense I thought I had shaken eveyones hand but came away with a feeling I had missed something which I dismissed.

Anyhow I had not played with the gent before, ran into him in the clubhouse a few days later and cheerily greeted him.

Of course he was a little bermused by this, thinking I had not enjoyed his company from the previous round and had felt hurt by my actions.

Thankfully we resolved it on the spot, all well that ends well. I feel very guilty for hurting the gents feelings, to many such an act is against the etiquette of the sport, a point which I agree.

The lesson... shake everyones hand twice? Well maybe not, might slow down play on the 18th, probably best just to make sure you thank everyone for a round, both on the green and in the bar later... just to make sure.

Can easily happen if folks start shaking hands before the last ball has been holed, much prefer to wait till it's in then do the old 3 way shake ;)

Good to hear all resolved

Noooooooooo
Unless the hole behind is clear.

Nothing worse than waiting to hit your approach to the last and everyones stood there on the green shaking hands and signing cards, exchanging phone no's hugging etc etc.
Get off the green and shake hands away from the players line behind you    ;)
Knob :D

You should be frog marched into the car park with all your golf gear and your membership badge ceremonially stripped from your tour bag, the Captain then should point to the exit and insist you walk away, head bowed low!

class, lol

At our club people tend to do it on the 18th, no one seems to mind and no one complains, I have not noticed it holding things up at all Bob.

I did not see him offer his hand, I either missed it or forgot, I am relieved it is all resolved as I would not like someone to do it to me!

Agreed :)

Glad the gent involved was more lenient with me :)

Oh a pet hate here - at our club happens to me every other week the group in front will putt out and shake hands, great no problem, but then will walk about 5 yards left of the green and within range to Mark, sign and swap cards........

I'm getting a sense here, that a kiss and a quick feel of the goolies isn't usual as a match-end thank you? Not even if one does remove ones hat?

So what's the correct etiquette when there are females in your 4 ball? Handshake (firm or limp like?) one cheek kiss, two cheek kiss(cheeks on the head of course...) or a big slap on the arse with "nice set of buns sweetheart!!? Cant say its much fun either way at my place with the totty factor being the wrong end of "yuk" and usually ends with stubble rash from those well placed hairy warts....
