hi all,

hopefully some of you remember me! ive taken a year out from the game of golf pretty much, for no particular reason, other than life in general, kids, family, other interests and work. But now im trying to find the time to play again. had my first round today, rained off after eight holes. my score? WHAT SCORE?!? thats right, i didnt score a single point in eight holes!

in case you think i used to play off of scratch, my handicap when i 'gave it up' was 28! thats right, i didnt score a single point today, playing off 28! i couldnt believe it myself, naturally i blamed the gale force winds, sub zero temperatures and then the rain, even my time out from it all. but now im back home and thawed out, ive been thinking, am i just rubbish at golf? am i wasting my time trying to get back into it? should i just sell my gear, and spend the time on my other interests?

Has anyone else had similar woes? If so, id like to hear your experiences, if only for a little inspiration!

cheers,

GBWG aka Stu

Good to have you back Stu :) like you I've had a year off and have played alright so far mainly because I've had low expectations and played sensibly. It will come mate and hope to see you at a meet this year

Was thinking of you and your Blackmoor bunker woes the other day :)

I've had a while off, nearly 9 yrs .

Keep plugging in, it'll come in dribs & drabs , focus on the fun times and try to forget the bad ones.

one shot at a time

Welcome back Stu, was wondering what happened to you mate. When we having a game ? I am still as crap as the last time we played.

Keep at it as hopefully when the weather is better you will enjoy it more mate.

thanks for the positives lads, i knew it would be hard coming back, but not this hard! off to the range tomorrow night, it has practice bunkers so ill be trying all aspects.

Tiger i think of that moment everytime i approach a bunker ;)

Guy! how you been mate? sorry for my absence, life tends to get in the way of the important things doesnt it. Got any training days coming up?

Wont be selling anything, even if i gave the game up, id keep the set up for my boy

Welcome back Stu. Missed you at the H4H day. Always appreciated your great support.

I know rich, i wanted to come, but as id not played in months, i didnt feel it was fair to take up a space that another player could fill that was enjoying the game. hopefully next year eh.

playing east sussex national with a 30 strong society in a couple of weeks

Hello! How are you all? I played so terribly at East Sussex, that as soon as I got home, I stuffed my golf gear in the loft and left it all there! Purchased a sierra cosworth so ive been to loads of car shows etc over the summer, but shes all tucked up in a garage now, and im getting that itch for golf omce again! Clubs are out of the loft and im off up the range tonight, wish me luck!

Definately mate. No training courses coming up? :D

Just back from the range, felt suprisingly good! Had the odd shank here and there, but getting a nice distance for each club, ive put my name down for the Sunday society, so il hit the range a coiple more evenings this week.
