Been in hospital for 2 weeks for a variety of things and was bed bound the whole time.
Luckily I think it's all sorted now, but during that time I've lost about 6kg in weight and a lot of strength. Just walking around the day I got released has caused muscle pains in my legs which I've still got 3 days on.

Went to the range yesterday just for 25 balls and could barely even swing the club, holding my 9 felt like i was picking up a chair or something. Was just about getting my 9 iron to reach the 100 yard marker, and that was when I wasn't shanking the ball!

Had just got relatively happy with my swing as well, hitting a nice straight shot with my irons and working a lot on my ball striking which was coming on, but now feel as if I'm back to square one.

Is it just a case of building myself back up, putting on the weight and getting back to normal do you reckon? Felt like I was learning a new sport and really put me on a downer to be honest!

It'll take some time. Use the time to get the basics right - stance, posture, grip and start slowly. Do half swings concentrating on good form rather than power and let it build up. Plenty of chipping and putting, work on bunker play and short game. You'll get there.

Long illnesses and periods of confinement take it out of you and you can't rush back. Look how coming back too fast worked out for the fittest man in golf.

Next time you try any sort of golf, if you have something to eat a few minutes before you exercise You will have more energy to hit some balls.

It doesn't have to be anything substantial just one or two slices of marmalade on bread is a good example of carbs with a quick release sugar fix thrown in.
