I recently found myself eperimenting with Mizuno MP32,s and have to say pw - 7 i love them. Trouble is i can,t hit anything above 7. I thought about mixing with my Ping G10,s but wondered if others have good experiences of "proper" combo sets? Cheers

I use the Nike Pro Combos (they are about 4 years old now but Nike released a new set in 2010) and I absolutely love them! Mine are 3-4 FCav, 5-7 MidCav & 8-PW Blade.

Bobmac, i can hit a six iron but not a blade 6 iron, very well. However, i was asking advice from people who use combo sets, if i was looking for smartarse remarks i would have asked for them.

Not all combo sets are the same.My irons are almost 8 years old,and i cannot fault them.Although the cavity back irons in the set (3,4,5,6) are easier to hit than a blade, they are still not that forgiving.Sole and topline are still very thin, theres very little offset, and the cavity is shallow,if you catch one low in the face,or off the toe,you will have numb fingers for the next few holes.

bobmac is one of the most helpful and respected posters on this forum.

A bit of harmless banter is part and parcel of using the forum.

Lighten up FFS!

Do you mean you can't hit anything lower than the 7 iron?

If so then yes you need a lesson or need to work on your game, not trying to be smart just giving you sound advice.

Guys, I don't think he's saying that he can't hit a 6 iron. He's saying that he can't hit a bladed 6 iron as sweetly as a bladed 7 iron and above. I would guess that is true of a lot of us. Keef, if you really want a combo set then then the nikes are excellent and are designed to be used as a full set. Personally, I would go for a full set of quality cavities, such as the jpx 800 pros. Low offset and a decent topline. And then get some lessons. Just kidding mate.

Thanks for all the responses. The blades are going on ebay and i am sticking with the g10,s where the 6 iron, 5 iron and occassionally the 4 iron are all going very well. What i experienced with the mp32,s however was akin, (i imagine), to having a high class tart - orgasmic intermitently but ultimately too high maintenance to run forever!
