Hadn't even considered this years ago- never crossed my mind, but looks a no brainer. However, some sets dont lend themselves to combo's, a good example is Callaway Apex and Apex pro's as the lofts would leave big gaps in the middle of the bag.

So what sets do lend themselves easily to a combo of 3-6 then 7-PW (apart from Titleist as they are a common given)

Mizuno, many combinations. I like the MPH5 3 or 4 to 6, MP4 7 to PW combo. But MP64, MP4, MPH5, MP15 all combine according to taste.

I think the Callys would work better than you think. I am not sure the loft difference would make that much difference, but you could get the Apex weaker a degree or two to better blend in.

Nike do some nice combo sets. The Pro Combo or Vapor Pro Combo look good and have the TT DG Pro shaft, which is pretty good.

Taylor Made TP lines also combine well, say CB longer irons, MC or MB shorter.

I am leaning back to Mizuno and the MPH5 did catch my eye but unusually up to the 6 iron is cast metal and I like forged albeit I might not be able to tell when playing but I would know if you get my drift. MP4 and MP15 could be a good shout

I tried the MPH5 4 and 5 irons along with my MP4s and loved them. I knew the clubs weren't forged, but I couldn't really tell the difference and when the ball sailed off on a lovely highish but strong trajectory, I didn't care much either.

You could try the MP54/MP4 if you really want forged all the way.

that did cross my mind but I really didnt like the MP53 (had them 2 weeks) so bad memories for the MP54.

I'll try the MPH5 as they do seem to be good and the C-taper lite shaft piques my interest as I do prefer lighter shafts

I would love a combo set, blades to a 9, 8-5 mid cavities, 4 and 2 hybrid. Perfect setup?

I dont think you can shoehorn blades, mid, full cavity and hybrids into all irons from a PW to a 2 right?

The TM TP's work well as a combo

It's something I'm thinking off

i was thinking of a combo set myself with the MP4 and H5 but I think the gap between the 6 of the h5 and MP4 7 iron would be a problem, as i hit the mp H5 6 iron 10 yards further than the MP4 6 iron.

Those new Srixon look like they could work and prob the TM TP .

I picked up a ap2 5irom on Friday. I haven't got around to hitting it yet. But essentially I now have a combo set going. I wasn't getting great strikes from the bladed 5iron I had. Hoping for a bit easier launch.

Cleveland 588 irons, case closed. These are specifically designed as a combo set, you have 3 sets all interchangeable. Brilliant clubs too, I can't recommend them enough.

The new Nike Vapor irons are making big waves despite only releasing last week. Many are going Vapor Pro Combo in the long irons and Vapor Pro's for the mid to wedge irons.

I'm tempted to go the same route.
