Colin Murray resigns from Talksport after Sun takeover

Annoying little twerp!

Tries far too hard to be "one of the lads" and seems to have zero knowledge or understanding of football, just one sarcie comment after another.

Jeez, whether you like his presenting style or not, the OP was about respect for a man taking a principled stand. Good on ya Colin. I'm sure you'll find work elsewhere.

Zero knowledge or understanding of football? Are you kidding me?? Do you actually listen to his show on Talksport? The bloke is packed full of knowledge about the game even down to non league level and beyond, he does absolutely loads of stuff on his show to try and promote the lower leagues, helped organize a trip abroad to support a non league team from Wales then took a team of ex professionals to play the same team a year later, all money raised going to that team. He's led the way on Talksport for the TwentiesPlenty campaign, spoken out about Hillsborough as well as other footballing tragedies such as the Bradford fire and various issues with Fifa, UEFA and major tournaments.

He's a massive loss to Talksport in my opinion.

Don't listen to Talksport as just find it full of utter bile

But fair play to Murray for quitting

Used to enjoy listening to him doing Fighting Talk on Saturday Morning - he is a proper football geek who knows his stuff.

Although I don't overly warm to him for some reason, I agree entirely with you. He's a very good broadcaster, knowledgeable and passionate, defo a loss to Talksport.

Could this signal the return of the Two Mikes to the 10am slot? Fingers crossed
👍👍

I respect his principled stand but that does not alter my dislike for his sarcy, smartarse style of presenting.

As for knowledgeable I think you are confusing a command of statistics etc; with an appreciation of the game.

Wasn't impressed when he first joined the station but he's definitely won me over.
He has an opinion which he'll always defend but he never belittles those who disagree with him. He has access to a huge number of top sporting chums but can talk at exactly the same level to a random geezer who phones in to talk about Sunday league stuff.
Far and away the most open of all the TalkSport presenters. Think Brazil, Jacobs, Durham. And as for Mike Parry.

I think I'll be leaving the station at about the same time..

The man's a Liverpool fan. Of course he doesn't appreciate the game. 😇
But he only has the same biases as other 'normal' fans.
Compare him with Durham - a small team supporter (nothing wrong with that) who's arrogant enough to think he has the right to tell Arsenal fans what they should be feeling.
I'll take his discursive style over Durham's bullying arrogance any day.

I like his show.
I may well have to find another show to listen to in the mornings now.
Hope they don't bring back George Galloway 😨

H and J are the only other presenters I tend to listen too.

I wad on his show once talking about my hole in one. I liked him on fighting talk, never listened to talk sport as adverts just do my head in.

This, well said and nice to see. Good luck to him in his future.

If you find Durham and Gough abrasive and they elicit anger/annoyance in you, then they've done their job. It's the most "convenient" think of radio history that they nearly always have the opposite opinion on big topics with Durham usually being the controversial one and Gough being the cheeky chappy for the people.

Fairplay to Colin Murray, he absolutely knows his football too. I hope they don't bring in another washed up cricketer to talk mainly about football. Irani was painful on the breakfast show and Gough is even worse on drivetime. Now Romford Ray is on brekkie it's miles better in my opinion.

I really enjoyed his show on TalkSport, when he did MOTD2 I wasn't really a fan but definitely been converted since. He is very knowledgeable as has been said, top man sticking to his guns! He'll be back on the airwaves very soon I'd expect.

Oh god not the 2 Mikes.. when one is trying to make a point and the other just KEEPS interrupting, talking a load of rubbish trying to shoe-horn in rubbish jokes. Drives me up the wall. When Paul Hawksbee does similar to Andy Jacobs it works, because Paul is very funny, and Andy has a great laugh.

Agree with the comments about Drivetime being a wind up fest. If a topic goes on long enough (I'm talking across a week or so in the papers) I swear Adrian Durham will argue from both sides of the fence after so long. It's still a great show though. This reminds me, I need to get my blog on the go, as most of the things I intend to write about will be off the back of me screaming my point at the radio when listening to Drive.
